I'm a 20 year old BA student studying Arts + Culture abroad, within my degree I focus on philosophy and politics. I have great knowledge of Western philosophy, from Socrates to Foucault.
My tutoring style is coherent and approachable. For exam revisions my main aim is making sure that students have the relevant knowledge and information (content) about the subject. If the content is relevant at that time students under my assistance try to plan and answer past exam papers.
Currently an A-Level student studying History, Philosophy and Biology. Specialised in GCSE History, English Literature and Language, can teach primary school students preparation for SAT's. I am an undergraduate reading history at the University of Oxford, having achieved A*A*A in my A levels and a strong set of A*s at GCSE. I am an enthusiastic, hardworking and friendly tutor looking to provide additional support to students struggling with History, languages, or general comprehension, by providing thoughtful and engaging lessons that meet the needs of each particular student.
I tailor my teaching style according to the student's needs and learning style. My teaching techniques include the standard method of reading and checking of comprehension, but also and mainly discussing the topic by connecting it to current political and social issues.
My main focus is on how students should approach exam answers. I teach a method that can be applied to any question or topic, a way of thinking about history that markers respond to. I also focus on sentence structure, paragraph structure and essay structure, as getting these things right is the easiest way to elevate exam or coursework marks drastically.
I approach each topic systematically, making sure that students are aware of the aims of the lesson to prevent any confusion whatsoever.
My structure and methodology is a very serene approaching to teaching. I want to ensure that the students are comfortable and engaged with the topics so I prefer a lot of interaction through things like powerpoint and activities that will really encourage students to involved themselves in their learning.
I believe in helping them to develop genuine skills that will enable them to answer any unexpected questions in their exams, which, as my brother and sister have recently discovered, is especially important with the new GCSEs.
I have a widespread knowledge of many historical topics and am willing to widen my knowledge. As I recently sat university, A Level and GCSE History exams, I have a strong knowledge of how to structure an exam and what to include.

I hold a History degree from a Russell Group University, and I have recently completed my PGCE in secondary History teaching. I am incredibly passionate about History, and strongly believe it is a hugely beneficial subject in the world we live in today. I look to develop my students' historical skills through practical application and constructive feedback.
Lessons are well structured and taught through clearly thought out questioning. This way I develop dialogue between myself and each student which reveal levels of understanding allowing me to identify and fill gaps in skill development and knowledge. I use hands on experimental learning whenever possible.
I am a friendly and enthusiastic student who can tutor History A-Level and GCSE students and university applicants, as well as helping pupils prepare for the Oxford History Aptitude test. I am a medieval history specialist but am also happy to tutor in other areas.
When working with students towards an exam or an assessment I think there are three particular areas of importance that need to be properly tackled. Firstly, ensuring student confidence in and understanding of the subject matter and course content itself. Secondly, the development of academic skills such as essay writing, and critical reading and evaluation.
I am able to tutor up to Higher level in History and RMPS. I am happy to work on the course(s) as a whole, from start to finish, or to pick out specific topics that a student may be struggling in, depending on which is required. I'm familiar with and fluent in the requirements of the formal education system and can convey clearly what is necessary to attain the higher grades. I'm also very aware of the multiplicity of learning styles, and so target my teaching materials, methods and style according to the preferences and inclinations of the individual.
Usually, it is important for me to have a list of areas where the student would like to learn. Teaching methods will be based on the style of learning of the student, however reciprocating a lecturer is not the method of choice. It is important to build the passion for this subject through learning in a relaxed and fun environment.
