Hi there! I graduated Teesside University with a 2:2 Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and News Practice. This covered all aspects of multimedia Journalism including Social Media/Online, Print Journalism, Video Journalism and reporting and Radio Presenting and producing. I am DBS checked (I have certification as proof). I can offer to tutor children from the ages of 5 to 11 years of age.
I am a college student who has finished secondary school. I prefer to teach students in primary school to secondary school. I like to boost my students confidence in your work and offer tips and guidance to reach you potential. I give insights on how to reach full intentional in exams by using my experience and knowledge in these subjects.
I obviously have to teach to a curriculum but when I'm teaching at school I do make as many lessons based around the students interests as possible. I assess the students when they arrive to identify their strengths and weaknesses and then work from there.
My teaching method is to base knowledge on interactive teaching. For example, simple revising a topic isn't an effective mode of 'getting it stuck'. So, the idea is to base tutoring on what is best for the student. If you love art, it's getting writing inspiration from say, a favourite piece of art. I will tutor anyone from needing a bit of advice at degree level to reading/writing for the young.
I am someone who likes to get to know my students and help them achieve their goals. I was a soft skills trainer for a major UK Communications company for five years and taught English informally in my spare time. I recently attended a CELTA course and found it so rewarding that I’ve decided to devote more time to teaching.
During my education and my relatively long career in customer service and public relations I gained a huge amount of expertise, so now I am keen to pass on to others my skills and experience. I like working with people and feeling I am helping them.

I base my teaching on the individual learner. Every learner is different in the way that they learn and understand things. I always try to make my lessons engaging and interactive so that learning occurs.
My teaching method will always be tailored to the type of person and level that I am tutoring. I find it easy to form quick connections, in which I can determine the best kind of learning style for each student. Most importantly, I will always be very interactive, trying to put across my passion for this work and helping inspire students to feel the same way.

I strongly believe that academic excellence begins with a genuine interest in the subject you are learning about. Students can exceed in English Literature by immersing themselves in the texts they are studying: breaking them down, devoting attention to "surface level" readings & being able to articulate what they mean when they say a text has "meaning".
I give lessons to anyone aged 11 or over; in particular, I work well with people who are struggling, as I have a patient, friendly nature and love to help students make progress. I like to work with students to identify areas of development and create resources to help scaffold the student and rapidly encourage progress.
My teaching methodology is of inquiry or discovery learning a technique, where I facilitate instead of teaching and praise students on the basis that all must be winners, classrooms where what children learn is based on their immediate interests. Where the student/group can receive the utmost assistance on an individual basis.

As a primary teacher and a secondary teacher, who is also a headteacher of a Pupil Referral Unit, I can teach and support in the following areas: English - to GCSE Maths - to year 7 Reading Numeracy Art PSHEE Behaviour support and management SEAL Sociology
I make the sessions fun and engaging focussing on individual targets and wants. I break up sessions with games aimed to consolidate basic skills.
I as an educator know that student engagement is the key to learning retention and having a great overall classroom experience. With changing times, education requires adaptation and evolution. Students are not as easily captivated as before by simple colourful animations in textbooks and monotonous songs to correlate with learned concepts.
My teaching method is to make you relax and see that you are doing well! I am incredibly positive and know that it's difficult to learn something new and you are amazing for pushing what you know and getting a little extra boost. I am great at adapting lessons to your needs as well as responding to what you would like to do and creating resources to suit (which I always email!).
I believe when it comes to teaching it is essential to understand the student; whether it be their way of learning or understanding the specifics of what they struggle with. It is important to stay patient and ensure confidence in the student so that they can leave the lesson feeling as though they have accomplished something.
