My name is Angus Bolton, offering maths tutoring to primary and secondary school pupils. I focus on specific aspects that the pupil requires explanation of, starting with the basic rules, and ensuring they understand them with a mixture of demonstrations and giving them the chance as well.
I will first get to know the student and see how they prefer to learn and then adapt my teaching style to suit them. Depending on their age and subject studying I will use a variety of methods such as flash cards, learning games and 'pop quizzes'. I will also talk to the parent/carer to see if they wish for their child to be taught in a certain way.
I try to break large topics down into smaller bite size chunks, to provide the student with additional support in combination with their usual classwork and teaching. I tailor each tutoring session to every individual students ability and needs at GCSE and secondary level.
I am currently in the 3rd Year of my degree in London, however live in Peterborough. I can give lessons at Primary level, KS3 and some GCSE and A-level. I tend to focus my lessons on what the student requires and so this may differ from student to student, whether they want to generally over view topics for an exam or focus directly on one particular topic where they are weakest.
I believe the best way to improve in mathematics is through practice. For this reason I will provide many examples for your child to try allowing my to learn where your child's strengths and weaknesses lie. Through this method your child can improve efficiently and effectively. For younger students, interactive games can be used to help retain attention.
