My teaching method is to encourage the students to discover Maths for themselves, thus re-creating in the classroom the role of a professional mathematician. I prefer this approach over instructional methods as I believe that students will retain knowledge discovered for themselves for longer than information that they have been told by someone else.
My lessons are student-led, focusing on questions and problems which the students bring to me. Before each lesson, I ask the student what they wish to focus on, and then plan the lesson around a few clear learning objectives. To me, the best way to learn is to work out solutions for oneself, so I aim to guide students to their own answers and to help them understand why it is that a method works.
I am a Biochemistry PhD student at the University of Oxford offering lessons in maths from primary to A-levels standard. I have plenty of tutoring experiences and believe I could help pupil that struggle with a particular topic (or topics) or pupil that wants to challenge themselves.
The content is linking between the persons Character, Subject, and Ambiance. I gave lessons to high-school and undergrad students. I am a political, calm, talented person, and my friendly character helps a lot by building a good relation with my students, which will affect our studies positively.
I am a friendly and approachable tutor. Learning should best be approached with a strong problem solving viewpoint in order to make every lesson enjoyable, and give the student a sense of achievement. Students learn best when they are pushed to do their best, and this approach is ultimately most rewarding.
I prefer to teach by working through problems together, beginning with simple problems to familiarise the student with the concepts and then moving into more difficult questions involving a bit more thought. Ultimately though, the teaching methodology I adopt will vary depending on the student, and I am more than happy to adapt to a students preferences.
Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science/ICT, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Computing Engineering lessons to GCSE, A2/AS-levels, University undergraduate, Masters and PhD students. Approach to teaching involves understanding of the student needs and catering my lessons/tutorials according to those and this method has always proved highly successful.
I focus my classes in working around the doubts and weaknesses that the student might have in the subject and reinforce them with practical work (activities, exercises, etc) If there are exams coming up, we focus on the material for the exam and then we will continue reviewing all the subject material from the beginning to make sure everything is understood correctly with exercises and problems...
I teach Maths and Physics through problems. I do not focus on teaching how to solve specific exam questions, instead i will focus on a diverse set of problems on a topic aimed at broadening the students problem solving skills. I make sure that the student see's a solution on his/her own by giving helpful hints without eliminating the necessary thought process.
I like to be methodical and thorough, and at a pace that suits you.
With teaching, depending on the student's preference, I either like to go through the content book with them and explain and give other examples of anything that they don't understand or need further explaining on. I also like to go through test papers with the student, and as we're going through the paper, answer any questions raised by the student and explain the questions they get wrong.
During my undergraduate studies, I tutored GCSE Maths. I have taught over 50 students and had them achieve well above their expectations in Maths GCSE and A-levels. Prior to my postgraduate position, I taught English as a Foreign Language in the UK, Ecuador, and Peru to children and adults, in small groups and large classes.
I'm friendly, relatively easy going and I understand the struggle! I'm a big fan of the Biosciences, but I'll be most helpful for Mathematical concepts since that's where my experience is. Discussion is the key to a depth of understanding! Depth of understanding will help you to adapt in an exam situation, as every oxford undergraduate will probably advise you.
I am an MPhil Economics student at Oxford university and give lessons in Maths and Economics to students upto Undergraduate level. Can give lessons online or at my flat in Cowley Road, Oxford. Very thorough with concepts and I ensure a planned teaching module with ample of practice tests.
Although I am 'officially' advertising as providing GCSE and A level tutoring, I am also open to those who wish to pursue different qualifications, or no qualifications at all! I believe that the learning journey is personal to each individual, and I will strive to work with each student to establish their goals before we start work in earnest.
Hi, I'm Sheng and an undergraduate at the University of Oxford studying Engineering, and I'm able to give lessons in Mathematics to all students at any level up to before university online, or in person if they are in Oxford (during term times) and in Kuala Lumpur for most other times! I am an experienced research scientist and high school teacher all in one. I teach chemistry and sciences from KS3 to A Levels. I tailor each lesson to the students needs, from revision to teaching the whole curriculum I listen to the students needs and work with him or her to reach there own goals.
I am an enthusiastic teacher and I like planning fun, interactive and informative lessons. I can approach questions in many different ways to help students have a good understanding of the work, by adapting my teaching methods to match my Student’s capabilities, as I understand each individual learns in different ways.
My teaching style is very informal, and somewhat resembles the setting of an Oxford tutorial, which is also the typical style of an Oxford interview. Getting comfortable with this type of academic engagement is more crucial to success both in interview and in university life than being the most impressive candidate on paper.
My teaching focuses on understanding the concepts and not only memorising them.
Hello mathematicians or "I'm a pupil get me through maths" people :)... I am a MEng Mechanical Engineering Student! I mainly focus on helping the students understand the maths notions, if possible show them the application so that they do not doubt what they are learning.
I base my teaching and tutoring on an engagement model and applied practise. Ensuring the student has learnt and understood the subject and content. Lesson reviews are also applied to complement the student, plus coverage of weak / needed material .
I received MChem in Oxford in 2017, followed by a 4-year DPhil programme. I have been teaching secondary and high school students Math, Physics and Chemistry. I am fluent in Chinese. I am keen to share knowledge with students in all levels. The method that I use during teaching is to combine concepts and exercises together, covering the foundations and exam tips.
I am a recent Psychology graduate from the University of Oxford looking to teach any Primary or Secondary school students, up to GCSE level, in Maths. I am very flexible, can tutor alongside any school lessons and can tailor lessons to meet students needs.
I strive to establish a connection between myself and the student, trying to make teaching a two way process. I can deal with children of all ages and am very communicative. I am strict although my goal is to make the student curious and engage them. My students end up loving the subject we study together. Tangible improvement to student confidence.
I am an Oxford student studying for a Master's in biochemistry, willing to give tutorials in physics, chemistry, biology and maths to A-levels or GCSE candidates. My teaching is based on my comprehensive understanding of the courses and I help students with their exam techniques - improved exam results with an in depth understanding is the ultimate goal.
I like to tailor my approach to suit the needs of every individual. It is entirely up to the student to pick a topic that he/she needs help with and I will make sure we go through problem sets until sufficient understanding is obtained. I do not prepare teaching material.
For some people Maths is quite a hard and complex subject due to it's "complication" and hard understanding of it's structure, my name is Ali and i have lots of experience in that field i had to use loads of maths to solve many Engineering concepts, my qualities qualifies me to teach maths to people who would just like to have a better understanding of the subject or people who needs some extra...
My aim is to help you with the problems that you are having and try and explain it in a different way so that you can understand them. Listening to a teacher or reading from a textbook can be difficult, and sometimes a different approach or opinion can help in making sense of a concept.
