It is my belief that anyone can learn anything with the right approach. By making sure the student is confident in the core aspects of maths before proceeding to more complicated topics, this then helps to speed up the overall process.
My teaching style is very student centered and I am extremely friendly, approachable and patient. I see the learning process as an experience that can be enjoyable and rewarding for the student, especially when they overcome difficult topics they thought they would never be able to master! I provide support with homework completion, assignments and exam preparation.
I provide a 1-1 session with the student. I recently have sat the new GCSE myself achieving an A star in the process. I would make sure each student understands the topic thoroughly before hand and understand the new exam techniques, eradicating silly errors that may cost them from achieving the very top grade.
My teaching method is ask the student what part of a topic they are struggling with and needs help on. I then like to explain the topic and do example questions explaining what I'm doing and why. I then give the student a few questions to practise. I am very patient so don't mind going over a topic multiple times if a student is struggling a lot.
I give lessons to secondary and high school students on all levels up to IGCSE and GCSE. I prefer using the lecture method, discovery/inquiry method, learning by doing and problem-solving approach method altogether but of course according to the characteristics and learning skills of the students.
I am willing to teach students up to GCSE level. i start lessons with a brief introduction to the basics of the topic, this is to remind students of previously learnt topics and ease them into the topic without jumping in the deep end. After that i will give a few basic questions to ensure that my student understands what i am teaching.
Use diagnostics to identify areas of weakness Integrate exam questions throughout tuition sessions Communicate with students at all times so the student is part of the learning process Ensure student develops accurate mathematical concepts by explaining the concepts clearly using a variety of methods Throughout every session I use assessment for learning to ensure I am aware of the progress...
Graduating from King's College London with a BSc in Mathematics, I currently tutor all levels of maths both privately and in various primary/secondary schools around Leeds, from basic maths to GCSE. The foundation of my passion is sparked from that moment it 'clicks' in the student, this is what drives me to tutor.
My method is relaxed and tailored to each student as well as suggesting techniques that have worked for me. Session length can be extended up to 3 hours at a time to suit the student's needs. Past paper/ homework solutions can be sent by email if the student is not able to schedule a session in the run up to deadlines and exams.
I provide one-to-one tuition to complement the student's formal studies (typically school GCSEs). My aim is to foster an understanding of the concepts that the student is finding hard to assimilate in the classroom in a more informal setting where they may feel happier to ask questions, or work at a slower pace.
Offering 60 - 90 minute lessons, I will need to know the student's specification prior to the session, and preference for topic areas to ensure a personalised experience. I provide in depth sessions which consist of a combination of teaching the subject area and going through exam questions with the student.
My teaching method is to basically base all the topics that are going to be covered in real life examples. Therefore, the student can relate the topic with nowadays scenarios and have a better understanding of the topic. I also use graphic material and the main idea is to have fun while we learn.
I believe children learn when they are appropriately challenged and feel secure. As a tutor, I ensure that each lesson starts with a clear learning objective and that I allocate time at the end to review the material in order to really consolidate the learning. I believe my calm and patient nature helps my student feel safe and therefore able to progress academically.
My teaching method is to take an approach that is best suited for each individual student. My classes would be primarily ran on whatever the student wants to focus on. It would probably be a combination of basic theories and then applying these to past exam papers.
I am very patient and level headed in all aspects of my life. My calm demeanor I feel is helpful to someone who is struggling. I try to explain things as simply as I can to give guidance without giving the direct answers.
My method of teaching will depend on the student and the subject being taught. Some students are visual learners and prefer a lot of demonstration teaching methods, whereas others work well with question and answer sessions and others prefer lecture style tuition. The unique thing about tutoring is that you can adapt your teaching methods to suit the individual which I am very happy to do.
Maths is formulaic. While the figures and circumstances in each question change, the method is always the same. So the best way to improve a students understanding is constant practice, from both exercises and past papers.
As i have mentioned i teach a variety of ages and abilities of pupils. I feel i am quite a flexible person and can adjust to pupils needs whether its long term learning of a short few months before exam i cater for what is required. I like to actually teach and show pupils how to work things out instead of bombard them with too may questions. learning a method is key before applying it.
I generally prefer to let the student take charge of their learning so that we can focus on what they feel they need help on, but I do understand from personal experience that people often like to stay on topics they are good at as that is more comfortable.
It's fundamental to me that my students are able to identify the why, not just the what, so that they feel confident in their work. I believe there are a number of ways different people get to this point, whether its through repetion from examples, abstract anologies or breaking down into component parts.
I am passionate about seeing results on my students. I focus on ensuring they understand their lessons and are able to apply the concepts they learnt at school in their homework.
I would give my lessons up to a first year university level in Chemistry and secondary school level in Mathematics. I will try to vary my teaching methods to adapt to your learning style. I am passionate about teaching to people who are willing to learn so I will always do my best to help in whatever way I can.
I am a former research scientist who has pursued a passion for teaching since my days as a doctoral student. I can teach a wide range of subject matter in the sciences. I like students to gain understanding with as much 'hands-on' work as possible. I have a love for Science and Maths that runs deep and allows me to answer questions with confidence, which I actively encourage.
I love diagrams and one page summaries! I will go through a selection of questions which use a wide range of problem solving strategies, teaching you some of my personal tricks and different ways of thinking about breaking down challenging questions (very simplified, I don't have a naturally super smart brain, just the perseverance to never give up!).
I give lessons to 'A' Level, based on what students ask to be covered. I make everything very interactive, to ensure learning and understanding. I am happy to admit what I don't know, but my students always come away feel good.
My teaching method is very simply to always make sure the student understands the basis behind a principle inside and out before applying it. With this comes a complete understanding of how Mathematics works.
My teaching method involves going through example question step by step, whilst keeping it interactive. I then like to set questions for the student to work through, getting them to explain each step to me as they go. I like to ask lots of questions in order to challenge the student.
I go down to the level of the student and bring the student up to my level. I teach lots of tricks and techniques which makes my student love the subject. I take test after every chapter I teach. I can assure that i can show the difference in just a months time.
All lessons are planned and prepared using a tailored approach based on initial assessment from the first session. Progress being a fundamental focus of all lessons, ensuring all students achieve, many exceeding predicted grades. Using a range of GCSE & A Level exam resources I am able to equip learners with the preparation needed to excel during examination periods.
Some students just need knowledge, i.e., their problem is they do not know the topic and need to learn the content and in other occasions they do not understand or do not know haw to apply what they already know, I first identify the need and after that I apply the methodology according to the final target.
