Local Editor and Branding Strategist in educated in English to degree level at Queen's University Belfast. Previously a tutor/peer mentor at Tor Bank School working with young students with complex learning preferences.
I am a university student in QUB, studying drama and theatre. I have completed ten GCSE's and four A levels, all grade C or above and have a passion for innovitave and dynamic teaching. I went to Assumption Grammar school where my drama teacher often asked me to create lesson plans and teach students at GCSE and A level, when she was engaged in other activities.
I am a writer from Belfast who likes to tutor lessons in English literature, with an interest in Shakespearean drama, Greek tragedy, and poetry, from GCSE to A Level and beyond. I have developed analytical methods to approaching a piece of work and deconstructing its technical composition to gain a vantage point for interpretation, analysis, and engagement with the text.
My teaching focuses on passion and enthusiasm -- English is so easily dismissed by people who find it difficult. I endeavour to confer my deep enthusiasm and appreciation for literatures to students. As such, I work on exploring different avenues than those students have already found, to try and unlock greater enjoyment and deeper understanding.
I am a 2nd year PhD student in English Literature. I have achieved great success in my academic career so far, gaining a First Class Honours in my undergraduate degree, and a Distinction in my Masters (both in English Literature). My specific areas of research/interest are in early twentieth-century women's writing.
An avid reader and writer, my primary intention is to awaken in my tutees a passion for the literary and dramatic works studied. I am firmly of the conviction that an appreciation of the artworks analysed will engender more nuanced critical responses of the texts at hand.
Passionate English tutor with a focus on student interaction to increase understanding. Relaxed learning environment is created to enable students to increase confidence through interaction and discussions. Syllabus based learning structure is provided with the option of general discovery and learning.
I have hundreds of hours of experience as a tutor, and have tutored students at every level of education. I believe it's important to find a good fit for an individual student's learning style. I am always keen to find ways to introduce independent study outside of tutoring hours to help the student develop their skills and knowledge.
