I am a friendly teacher working in the York area, where I am currently taking on new students. I prioritise making sure my students enjoy their lessons and the instrument they are learning and my aim is to suit lessons to each individual. As well as teaching individuals of all ages, I am also happy to teach in small groups, for instance, siblings or friends learning together.
I offer 30 minute lessons for young children and/or beginners on the trumpet, trombone and other brass instruments. I also offer performance coaching and recital preparation for those on a degree or preparing for university. As a tutor, I am approachable, understanding and patient.
I am quite creative through my teaching, using always games, composition and improvisation during my lessons. I think playing music is mostly a way of creative thinking than a skill and I involve several techniques into my lessons depended on the studend and his/her (career) intentions. I teach piano beginners to degree level, music theory/aural training, and flute beginners to intermediate level.
My background is diverse, I studied at the Keech School of Music and Performance in Hull as a youngster. I also played Jazz and Rock guitar and was in the Medieval Music band. I started teaching at age 15 after passing my Grade 8 Classical Guitar. I also studied Music Theory up to Grade 8 with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
