I am a fully qualified Science teacher who has taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics to GCSE and Biology at A level. I am very relaxed and adaptable to a students needs, tailoring my teaching technique to suit. I have a huge wealth of resources at hand to help.
The lessons I will be giving are for any level of study up to and including A levels for both Maths and Physics. My lessons will be focused on helping the student better understand concepts or questions they have faced in the classroom which they do not fully grasp or struggle with. As the classes are 1 to 1 I am able to give the attention and time that a student is not always given in a classroom.
A friendly approach and careful assessment helps me identify pupil misconceptions. I then ensure clear understanding of basic skills using a range of strategies. This approach leads to new self confidence enabling students to make rapid progress.
My main teaching method is to go through work sheets to find the specific areas that need improving.
I love teaching - either adults or young people, face-to-face or online. I particularly enjoy supporting people individually according to their needs. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach English, Philosophy, Thinking skills including preparation for the LNAT, the BMAT and the Thinking Skills assessment, study skills, English as a foreign language. - Tell me about your qualifications.
I approach each topic by starting with the basics and working up. Throughout studying for GCSEs, A Levels and my course I have found many better ways of visualising the problems in subjects that I have come up with myself as I go along that I would be more than willing to share.
My last job was to make sure American student athletes hit their academic targets. I never had a student fail a course that I was tutoring and if I can get a bunch of muscle-headed "jocks" to pass their exams, I can certainly do the same for you! - Which subject(s) do you teach? I cover a wide range of subjects within the fields of mathematics, biology, physics and general science.
I like to encourage students to explore the subject for enjoyment and personal enrichment. I also like to make sure that they understand the subject for examination purposes to obtain maximum grades.
I'm a flexible and enthusiastic teacher of physics and maths, with a varied academic background, including masters degrees in physics (MSci) and Robotics (MSc). I also have professional experience teaching undergraduate university students.
My teaching method is based on understanding and practice. This involves step by step guidance through problems and ensuring that the student understands how to get to the solution rather than what the solution is.
For me, mathematics and physics are entirely about the clarity with which they are taught. Every student should go into their maths and physics and exams with a strong intuition about the subject, and this comes from having a topic explained by someone who understands the subject in depth.

I think the best way is to discover the student's learning style, as everyone is different. From there I can adapt my approach based on what comes most naturally to each student, but I think regular repetition is important for virtually everyone and making sure the student participates as much as possible and has their own input rather than the teacher speaking all the time.
I have a very good understanding of the national curriculum and an excellent knowledge of all the subjects I teach. With that I can go into as much and as little detail as needed. I always find a way of linking subjects together and I break everything down to a simple explanations.
I try to cater to the students needs, by understanding their strengths and finding ways to relate their favourite subjects to Core subjects. I tutor primary right the way through to Alevel. I also tutor Music plus the flute, piano and voice.
I teach in a friendly, relaxed fun way to suit each individual students' requirements. I prefer to teach through a practical approach as opposed to reams of text and trawling through web sites. I encourage learning through play.
