My primary aim is to make my student understand the issue / topic /lesson in all its prospective. The basic requirement to study or learn a language is to know the meaning of each and every word and its appropriate usage so as to make the resultant sentence easily communicable.
I base my lessons on what the individual or group needs are. Sessions can range in length up to one hour. Before we meet, you can inform me of the skills that you would like to focus on and I will arrange a lesson plan from there. If you do not want a lesson plan, and need help with homework, writing fabulous papers, or making excellent presentations, we can spend the time working on that.
Areas of specialisation are English and Drama. In addition to completing my Masters I have a BA in performing Arts from Charles Sturt University. My methodology is firstly I build a good rapport with my students and make them feel comfortable. I make them read the chapters thoroughly and then give them dictation from the particular chapter to build their vocabulary and improving their spellings.Then I proceed further with the question answers and exercises.Then prepare a proper test paper for them in later class.
My believe that in order to learn properly, it is important to include fun activities which encourage learning so the student does not become bored of studying. I also like to encourage learning by relating things taught at school to the real world so students understand the importance and purpose of the content they are getting taught.
English is not about memorization so what I want to develop is fundamental reading and writing skills that are essential for excelling in any subject in high school. My focus will be on how to write strong essays, how to break down English assignments and passages of literature to be more understandable.
