I am an aspiring teacher, very dedicated and passionate to teach English. I look forward to helping people achieve the most they can and gain confidence whilst doing it. I already work in Secondary school as a librarian. I offer help, guidance and support to people doing GCSE English language and literature as well as other general help and support with English matters.
My teaching method is well planned. My instructions are in English. I generally start with the background of the author, historical influeneces on the text and move onto interpretation. I give the students liberty to interpret a text themselves and direct them wherever they are stuck. This sharpens their analytical skills and helps them write better.
The content of English varies vastly from school to school, so I tailor my teaching to the individual. I will ask students to look at unseen passages for literary devices, as this will help them think quickly under exam conditions, and will go through past exam questions and model answers to highlight what examiners are looking for.
I am a focussed individual determined to provide the best service to build and maintain new relationships. Building and sustaining a good rapport is at the heart of this, both with children and parents and I feel my excellent communication and listening skills help to achieve this target.

Student-led: working to each student’s individual strengths and preferred learning style. Breaking down the issues they are facing so it doesn’t feel like a mammoth task in order to improve.

I base my classes on the syllabus the student is studying so AQA, Edexcel etc. We practice past papers as well as look at techniques to help them ace their exams. I have a good understanding of books on the syllabus so we select quotations to learn for unseen exams.
I am committed to your development; I get results FAST because I know what works. Instead of waiting for your young person to "grow" out of it - let me give you the skills and know how and exercises to help.
Students respond to interactive ways of learning and I have seen success when I employ such methods. For English, my lessons are full of discussion which encourages students to think creatively and I then help them develop coherence when expressing their ideas on paper. We go through each step of how to answer a certain type of question and consider every aspect of what makes a model answer.
I base my classes on first finding out the student's areas of weakness, by first questioning them on areas they find difficult, and also through practical tests. I then guide them though these areas by explanation and example. Using questions and a range of extra material, I strive to advance their ability, and meet any examination criteria they wish to focus on.
My teaching methods depends on each individual child.
