I have class sizes of 33 in my job so would love to work 1:1 for a change. I pride myself on making lessons fun and interactive so that the students are engaged in what they're doing, and happy to be learning.
My teaching method is based around the National Literacy and Numeracy Framework for Wales and I give lessons to children who are struggling with their school work. I can help with all areas of the Primary School curriculum but particularly focus on literacy and numeracy skills so that children have basis for learning. I use a phonics based approach for teaching reading and literacy skills.
For school students with reading, comprehension or articulation difficulties, I read through the texts or parts of the text with them out loud, using my own experience of the text to bring out the way the writer uses their language.
I believe learning should be fun and informative! I love sharing a good historical anecdote and using a variety of techniques to help learn and memorize. This is useful for all levels, but especially if you find studying just by reading chunks of text hard (like me). I'm not a fan of exams or tests, but short regular quizzes help determine how well you are learning something, so expect those.
I adapt my lessons/ sessions to the individual. I like making things fun and easy to understand, especially if a pupil is uncertain on a subject/ topic. I'm very welcoming, and always am open to suggestions. I'm able to help with GCSE's and A-Level, but can do any educational level if needed.
The methods I use for teaching focus on ensuring total success for everyone involved. I look to see the differences in my students as a positive. We all learn differently and it is something we should all embrace! I can give my lessons to any one from Primary level, up to an adult to assist with rhetoric, speech writing and resume/CV building.

I believe in a constructivist approach to learning. A constructivist adapts quickly to the child's needs and uses formative assessment methods to identify a students strengths and weaknesses. Using formative assessment allows for learning to happen more rapidly. I have found in the past, that this approach has allowed the students I teach to generate outstanding results in literacy and numeracy.
I base my classes on the syllabus the student is studying so AQA, Edexcel etc. We practice past papers as well as look at techniques to help them ace their exams. I have a good understanding of books on the syllabus so we select quotations to learn for unseen exams.
The class method is to use alternative sources of study and match those with students needs. Focus on the areas of memory and exam technique, as these are the main points that students need help with. My experience is what defines me.
After having achieved grade 9 for both Literature and Language GCSE, I decided I would like to share my passion for English with others. I like to take assessment before start teaching so I can know what level child stands on. I prepare my own resources according to the assessment. I believe on practise more on each topic and then move on to the next topic. After every topic, I take a test.
