I consider it of paramount importance to avoid being didactic in my lessons. The key to learning, in my experience, has always been to make it as interactive and independent thinking as possible.
I am very adaptable and aim to personalise my teaching in order to suit individual students and their academic needs. Every single student takes in information and understands it differently, and I aim to help students access their subject in a way that appeals to them.
I believe children to to be exposed to education that is meaningful to them and not just pen, paper and books. Children need to see how their education is relevant in their everyday lives. I strive to make my lessons fun and engaging, as well as challenging.
My preferred teaching method is using hands on, visual and fun activities to make learning enjoyable. I begin my lessons with a short starter, to gain an understanding of the child's previous knowledge and reinforce concepts from the previous lesson. This may include 'splatting' the correct number with fly swatters.
I have a BA (Hons) Drama and Literature, PGCE (Secondary English Teacher) - teaching KS3/4/5 (age 11 to 19). Taught in Comprenhensive mixed schools and currently teaching in Private School - English Language and English Literature - Head of English Department Department.
I structure my lessons based on what the student feels they need the most help with. For example, I will read out poetry analysis tools and words and explain them and then get the student to reiterate what I have said step by step until we are both sure they understand it.
My teaching style is largely based making sure the student is happy and confident whilst learning. I try to make my lessons fun and engaging whilst also offering practical skills and 'insider knowledge' from having completed many English-based qualifications myself.
My teaching method is to base each lesson according to the GCSEs syllabuses and National Curriculum's expectations. Taught KS2, KS3 and KS4 English, Geography, History, Life Skills, PSHE, R.E. Ensured students at KS2 (year 6) were working at ATS or GDS level for Reading, Maths,Science and Writing which involved long term planning of lessons.
Since I specialise in coaching, I’m not only looking to help improve in a specific subject, but I’m also trying to help develop excellent learning and revision habits. This means that my tutoring session will focus on the personal growth of the tutee as well the topic at hand. I will provide a fun working environment, accompanied by a broad set of tips for the upcoming GCSE exams.
Each lesson will be taught differently according to the student i am working with. I believe learning should be fun and interactive to help the student to feel relaxed and so has a enjoyable learning experience and really take a lot away from the session.
I have class sizes of 33 in my job so would love to work 1:1 for a change. I pride myself on making lessons fun and interactive so that the students are engaged in what they're doing, and happy to be learning.
My teaching method is based around the National Literacy and Numeracy Framework for Wales and I give lessons to children who are struggling with their school work. I can help with all areas of the Primary School curriculum but particularly focus on literacy and numeracy skills so that children have basis for learning. I use a phonics based approach for teaching reading and literacy skills.
For school students with reading, comprehension or articulation difficulties, I read through the texts or parts of the text with them out loud, using my own experience of the text to bring out the way the writer uses their language.
I believe learning should be fun and informative! I love sharing a good historical anecdote and using a variety of techniques to help learn and memorize. This is useful for all levels, but especially if you find studying just by reading chunks of text hard (like me). I'm not a fan of exams or tests, but short regular quizzes help determine how well you are learning something, so expect those.
I adapt my lessons/ sessions to the individual. I like making things fun and easy to understand, especially if a pupil is uncertain on a subject/ topic. I'm very welcoming, and always am open to suggestions. I'm able to help with GCSE's and A-Level, but can do any educational level if needed.
The methods I use for teaching focus on ensuring total success for everyone involved. I look to see the differences in my students as a positive. We all learn differently and it is something we should all embrace! I can give my lessons to any one from Primary level, up to an adult to assist with rhetoric, speech writing and resume/CV building.
Continuing the ethos I learned at the student success centre I taught at in New York, my goal is not just to prescribe to give clients the tools to become better writers. All lesson plans start and end with the clients desire.
My method is to meet with the pupil/student define what the problem areas are then base my classes on how to tackle anything the pupil/student might have problems with & strengthen these areas by talking through the main difficulties & giving the pupil a technique on how to manage the work or the dissertation.
I believe in a constructivist approach to learning. A constructivist adapts quickly to the child's needs and uses formative assessment methods to identify a students strengths and weaknesses. Using formative assessment allows for learning to happen more rapidly. I have found in the past, that this approach has allowed the students I teach to generate outstanding results in literacy and numeracy.
I base my classes on the syllabus the student is studying so AQA, Edexcel etc. We practice past papers as well as look at techniques to help them ace their exams. I have a good understanding of books on the syllabus so we select quotations to learn for unseen exams.
The class method is to use alternative sources of study and match those with students needs. Focus on the areas of memory and exam technique, as these are the main points that students need help with. My experience is what defines me.
My teaching style is friendly, structured and supportive: I tailor lessons to students' academic needs. We will go through each topic by theme, character and language analysis, geared towards the assessment style (essay/exam).
I like to engage the student and build a positive relationship with them. Following the set curriculum and preparing for exams is very important, as is writing essays for practice or for coursework. So is aiming to genuinely understand the subject matter and to engage in critical thought and explore around the subject. On top of this having fun while doing so is vital.
I plan all lessons in advance and use a variety of cross curricular methods across all subjects to ensure all students are fully motivated and highly engaged. I endeavour to make learning fun and approachable for all . My lesson structure is well paced to ensure no two lessons are the same.
In each lesson, I like my students to go on an adventure through their task. Whether it's through exam prep or poetry creation, students will explore and hone their skills and talents based on the fundamental framework offered through their regular school work. Like a good story, a lesson has a beginning, middle, and end, with twists and turns throughout.
PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY: Teacher focused on implementing highly effective instructional practices to improve student learning and academic performance. Highly innovative and resourceful education professional who quickly identifies and resolves challenging classroom situations as well as focus on children's holistic development.
My passion is for bringing subjects to life for students so that instead of learning facts they are able to take the stories into their tests, ensuring a higher level of success. I take a holistic approach to my students so that I am able to help them achieve their goals by supporting their existing strengths whilst helping to hone and refine areas that challenge them.
I like to take assessment before start teaching so I can know what level child stands on. I prepare my own resources according to the assessment. I believe on practise more on each topic and then move on to the next topic. After every topic, I take a test.
I tailor my teaching towards the individual. I understand that not everybody learns in the same way and want to make my lessons fun and engaging so that you get the best out of them. For primary/secondary school students, I base my teaching on the National Curriculum and am able to tutor for SATs. I base GCSE and A level lessons upon your specific exam board, e.g. AQA, Edexcel, etc.
I have a proven track record with aiding children to pass their phonics screening check and KS1 SATs and believe that with the right support every child can succeed. Children learn best when having fun, therefore I know a vast array of games that can be used to help children to learn, remember and succeed.
