I would take each case and look at it individually ti be honest and teach based on the individual and what they want to get out of it. If it is every 'getting by' then I am happy to be used in any way you see fit. IE you tell ME how you want to be taught. We can read literature together, discuss topics, or be tested on your spelling. Flexibility is key.
