Since graduating from the University of Essex with a 2:1 degree in English, I have had great experience assisting children with their learning. English language and comparative world Literature for all levels. Specialising in non native English students who wish to have a little help. Structured lesson to enable efficient leaning, with emphasis on spelling, grammar and vocabulary. I believe everyone can learn- just finding the right method for everyone.
My teaching method promotes self-learning and helping students to develop essential critical thinking and analytical skills which can be applied to all aspects of their education. I have an awareness of the different styles of learning and am able to adapt lessons depending on how a particular student learns.
I approach each topic with interactive methods and talk to my students to see what method of teaching engages them the most for example videos, games or test questions. I will then be able to assess them regularly to consolidate their learning.
My aim is to go at a pace that suits every student. Individually, all students are different, so my lessons will adapt to their needs and ability. I have GCSE qualifications in History and English, allowing me to have the necessary knowledge and understanding to teach effectively. My lessons are relaxed, but still focused.
I will choose a topic/ area agreed with the parents of where the gaps are. I will then plan my resources around this. I will use diagrams, pictures, textbooks, videos and practical items eg numicon to help the child understand.
I practise a relaxed, friendly and motivated atmosphere: no scary 'out-of-the-blue' questions to 'test you,' rather I believe in encouraging students to build and gain confidence (essential for success), subsequently fostering their passion and excellence within the subject.

I believe in active learning. Students should always know they will be supported but they will be encouraged to develop their own opinions and skills, as this is very important for English especially at GCSE. In my lessons I will help them with homework and any difficulties they might face, while providing additional resources to consolidate knowledge.
As a teacher I am patient and considerate...hopefully intersteing too!
