A-Level mathematician offering maths lessons for anyone up to A-Level standard in London

Methodology

I am ready to give students of all ages up to and including A-Level standard. I aspire to learn the capabilities of the student within their first session and modify my teaching methods based on their study technique. I will start by giving them a short test to assess their existing skills so that I can adapt myself to benefit the student in the most effective way, unless they come asking for specific topics that they'd like me to perfect with them.

Background

I am an A-Level student who is a bright, motivated and hardworking individual who wishes to pursue a career in Chemical engineering. I possess many creative ideas that I apply to my academic and extracurricular activities, and I am keen to learn and develop new skills to further enhance my existing skill set. I am able to work using my own initiative as well as part of a team, and I feel I have good interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with and to educate my peers.

-------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY -----------------------------------------------
I am an A-Level student who is a bright, motivated and hardworking individual who wishes to pursue a career in Chemical engineering.
------------------------------------------------- EDUCATION ----------------------------------------------
Tiffin School – Kingston-Upon-Thames September 2016 – Present
• Currently in year 13, studying Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
• I am a part of the school’s senior cricket team.
• I volunteered to be an assistant prefect and following my performance over the year, I was chosen to be a senior prefect to help ensure the smooth running of the school.
• I co-founded the ‘Tiffin Indian Ensemble’, which is a club that I began with a fellow peer to identify the Asian musical abilities of those in our school and helped them prepare for shows and music exams.

Queen Elizabeth’s Boys’ School – Barnet September 2011 - July 2016
• Studied GCSE’s in English Language and Literature, Double Science, Mathematics, French, Geography, Product design and Art.
• GCSE Tamil, 2013 – A*
• GCSE Short course Religious Studies, 2015 – A
• GCSE’s in 2016:
- Mathematics: A*
- Double Award Science: A*A
- Design Technology, French, English Literature, Art: A
- Geography, English Language: B
• I was the Captain of the Eton Fives team. I trained the younger years in this sport, so that they excel and represent the school well in matches and national tournaments.
• I was a co-runner of the Senior Indian Music Ensemble during my years at the school, and I also oversaw the running of the Junior Indian Music Ensemble, where we all trained and participated in school concerts.
----------------------------------------------------- SKILLS -------------------------------------------------
• I have a solid foundation in computing, with an in-depth knowledge of using programs such as Microsoft Office, Solidworks, AutoCAD, 2D design, Audacity, Photoshop, Garage Band, Revit, and Google Sketch up.
• I have been playing football for West London United for over 4 years. I have participated in tournaments and some of my achievements to date with the team include winning and being runners-up on numerous occasions.
• I have been playing Carnatic keyboard for a number of years, and I obtained my grade 8 Diploma certification in 2015. I have also attained grade 4 in Carnatic violin.
• For the 2014-2015 academic year, I was elected as the senior prefect for OFAAL School, where I have been learning my mother tongue and traditional music. Being elected senior prefect taught me about the importance of responsibility, teamwork, organization and delegation of tasks amongst my peers.
• I studied LAMDA and completed my grade 8 examination in 2015. I have utilised what I learnt during my LAMDA qualification to further enhance my public speaking and communication skills.
• I have completed the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s award in 2015 and 2016 respectively, which helped me gain teamwork skills and also helped me stay fit, as there was a physical section to complete along with the expedition. The volunteering at my Saturday school helped me gain interpersonal and socialising skills.
------------------------------------------------- EXPERIENCE -------------------------------------------
Engineering Education Scheme, Engineering Development Trust September 2016 – April 2017

I took part in the Engineering Education Scheme (EES), where as a group we are told to find a solution to an engineering related problem. The project our team was given was to create a portable molecular weight sensor with Air Products PLC. This is so that gases can be identified, which would be particularly useful for use in a gas production factory so that the gases do not get mixed up and so that leaks can be identified with ease. Partaking in this scheme allowed me to express the engineering related skills within me. Also, by working on this specific project, it allowed me to get a sense of the life of a Chemical Engineer.

Malachy Walsh and Partners Consulting Engineers June 20th – 24th 2016

I took part in a one-week placement at Malachy Walsh and Partners Consulting Engineers, where I was guided through the skills required in civil and structural engineering by specialised individuals. This experience was extremely helpful as it allowed me to get a feel of what an engineers day-to-day life was like as well as what skills I would need to improve upon and acquire in the future. During this placement, I was also able to complete the certified Continued Personal Development (CPD’s) for ‘Parts F & L for Ventilation Regulations’, ‘Domestic Indoor Air Quality & Ventilation’, and the ‘Installation Guide to MEV & MVHR Systems’ which reinforced my learning during my placement.

Space Engineering, Ayad Al-Tuhafi Architects October 26th-30th 2015
June 13th-17th 2016

I worked alongside experienced architects, who allowed me to shadow them in order to gain an insight into architecture. I was shown and taught the different programs that an architect uses, such as AutoCAD, Google Sketch up and Revit. I believe this was an invaluable experience as I was able to see how preliminary designs were formed. I was also taken to a construction site and a house completed by the architects, where I was shown how the transformation process from drawing to building. This experience allowed me to observe and learn some of the skills required in the process of becoming an architect.

Assistant Keyboard Teacher, OFAAL School September 2014 – September 2016

I assisted the main keyboard teacher at OFAAL School and I found it thoroughly enjoyable. I was able to teach students their current syllabus material in detail and ensured that they understood the objectives. Giving constructive criticism was a skill I developed, as I had to relay this to the students and their parents in order to ensure that the students were able to perform at the best of their ability. I took the responsibility of teaching a select number of students to play a song at the school’s Christmas programs. This experience allowed me to learn the qualities needed to engage with students, and to teach them in the most pro-active way.

Wings Of Hope – The Elemonators September 2013 – April 2014

I took part in the Wings of Hope Achievement Award during the course of the 2013-14 academic year along with a group of my friends as part of a team called ‘The Elemonators’. As a team, we completed a 100-mile bicycle ride in our local park, for which many supporting individuals sponsored us either for the whole ride, or values for when we surpassed each kilometre. We also ran a football tournament at Goals Soccer Centre for which we went through tough and longing negotiations in order for the company to support our charitable ambitions, by giving us the best deals they were able to give us so that we could make as much profit as possible from the day. Furthermore, we collected donations from our local neighbourhood by going door-to-door. Ultimately we successfully raised £318, and this experience helped me gain good teamwork, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
------------------------------------------------- INTERESTS -----------------------------------------------
• I have had a passion for drawing from a very young age and this has been quite an integral part to both my academia and spare time. I used my initiative to open an Instagram and Facebook page to publically display my drawings that served as a platform to showcase my talent and for people to give me feedback, allowing me to further develop this skill set.
• I enjoy composing songs using my keyboard and constructing notes for well-known songs, both of which allow me to able to explore my own creativity.
• Since undertaking product design as a GCSE and A-Level subject, I have enjoyed designing many things, including houses, tables, cars, and other household furniture using the Solidworks software.
• Reading is one of my most enjoyed pastimes as not only does it help me relax, but it also strengthens my vocabulary and creative writing skills.
• I enjoy playing chess as I find it to be a stimulating game. I have also participated in tournaments at school, which have been fairly challenging and enjoyable.
• During the summer months I enjoy going fishing with my dad and travelling with my family. Being in the open air and exploring the world has taught me about the importance of appreciating nature and the varied cultures around the world.
