Due to the nature of the subjects, the lessons will primarily be based around problem solving skills, (learning facts and figures is something that should be focused on in individual study).
As such, I will prepare specific problems in advance of each lesson based on your subject weaknesses, and we will go through them together during the session.
For most problems, there is one crucial step that must be taken in solving it, the 'key' that unlocks it. After this, the problem itself becomes very straightforward. Often I have felt that tutors are too quick to give the 'key' away when you are struggling, so I will be encouraging you to attempt the problem as completely as you can with no pressure if you go in the wrong direction, failing is just a part of learning.
The aim is that after successive problems in each topic, you will be able to identify the 'key' to those problems and after successive topics this ability will only strengthen as links emerge.
I am a currently a physics student at the University of St Andrews, entering my Junior Honors year.
Although this is my first tutoring role, I am confident I will be able to work effectively to fulfil your needs and I will take great care and effort in ensuring each lesson is planned specifically for you.
Having used two excellent tutors in the past, I understand exactly the type of lessons that feel helpful leave you satisfied.
