I would first talk to my student about what they feel their weak areas are and ask them to look at a checklist, so I can plan a lesson structure that would work best for them. Each lesson we would tackle one or two of these topics at a time (depending on the student's confidence), beginning with explaining it to my student (unless they just need practice), and then going through some questions.
I am an A-level student, taking Maths, Biology, French and German. I understand the problem solving style of the new GCSE papers, as I have taken them an academic year ago. I also took Further Maths for my GCSEs.
