I am very passionate about academia, especially mathematics, and would like to share my expertise with younger GCSE and AS students (ideally ages 13-16). I have achieved 11A* at GCSE and am predicted 3A* at A-Level (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics). I have received offers to study Biomedical sciences from Imperial, UCL, Warwick, and Bath.
My philosophy is that the way to revise maths is to do as many practice questions as possible, and commit the corrections to memory afterwards.
My provisional lesson plan would be to go through a short powerpoint and then show the stident worked solutions to harder questions. I would also hope to be able to set homework for the student to do; this can vary from 10-15 practice questions to a past paper under exam conditions.
I am a staunch believer that every person’s pace of learning new material is different, and will establish a teacher-student relationship where the student is not embarassed to admit if they are struggling so we can eradicate any uncertainty together.
I have not had any tutoring experience in the past, but would love an opportunity to help GCSE and AS students understand Mathematics better and achieve the grades they aim for.
I am highly resilient and believe that intelligence is fluid, not static. This mindset has helped me achieve the grades that I have already mentioned above. I will also be thorough in helping my students cope with any areas that they are struggling with, and give them the numerical skills to understand maths on an instinctual level.
