A-Level Student offering affordable English Language and Literature sessions to KS1, KS2, KS3 and 11+ students

Methodology

When tutoring English, I like to help students to think imaginatively when they are analysing texts. This allows students to create original and perceptive points. My method of tutoring English consists of discussing context with students, allowing them to make links and connections between the themes in poems or novels and the writers' lives. I have a great love for English and I am enthusiastic when studying and tutoring the subject to others. My approach allows students to enjoy the subject from a young age; instilling in them a high proficiency in reading and comprehension.

Background

I am beginning to study A Level: Biology, English Literature, Music and Drama and I am offering to tutor: English at KS1, KS2, KS3 and 11+ levels, Biology at KS1, KS2, KS3 and GCSE levels, Physics at KS1, KS2, KS3 and GCSE levels and Maths at KS1, KS2 and 11+ levels. I recently gave private tuition to a GCSE Biology student from January to June 2019. Being a student, I have an understanding of the 9-1 specification and the overall experience of sitting the, now harder, GCSEs. This means that I can share tips and advice with students in order to help them to achieve their ideal grade.

Key Skills
I have developed strong customer interaction skills through my role as a volunteer in Boldmere Library and I have a passion for public speaking. I am comfortable around animals and have worked with Cats Protection to care for and rehome over forty vulnerable kittens and cats. I have also helped younger children to develop their musical technique by supporting the younger Sandwell orchestras in concerts. Despite my involvement in arts projects, I am an academic student and I am very competent in finance and mathematics. I have effective teaching and communication skills that I have also developed as I have tutored a fellow student in Biology and Physics for a year.

Hobbies and Interests
I have been playing the violin for 12 years and have enjoyed playing in the Sandwell Orchestras for 10 years, the school orchestra for 3 years, a string quartet for 5 years and other musical projects throughout the years. I am currently studying for my violin ABRSM grade 7 . Recently, I have completed my first course with the CBSO Youth Orchestra. Aside from music, I am an avid reader and I like to encourage other, younger children to participate in the Birmingham Library’s Summer Reading Challenge. This is a volunteering role I have been doing for 2 years. For 3 years I have helped to run the Scholastic Book Fair at my school. Through this I have shared my love for reading and English to other students. This has also bettered my finance skills as I have calculated the NET profits of the fair each year.
