- Hobbies and interests:
I have been part of my schools senior debating team for two years and have progressed to now running my sixth forms senior debating society. I am passionate about discussing various topics that affect different groups in society and well as understanding and exploring the different views and opinions that others may have. Being part of my schools debating team has helped me develop a more open mindset as I often debate topics which I may not particularly agree with. Furthermore, through my schools debating society, I have had the opportunity to visit many universities to participate in various debate competitions such as: Cambridge and Kings College. Through these unique opportunities, I have developed strong public speaking skills as well as being able to express and communicate ideas effectively especially whilst working as part of a team. I also enjoy playing various sports including rounders, netball and athletics. Within my school, I am part of the senior Netball team which has helped me maintain my fitness levels as well as strengthening my ability to work well within a team. Alongside this, I coach the female year 7’s Netball team on a Wednesday evening.
Graduated from NCS The Challenge – September 2017
NCS The Challenge has helped me become a better person in several ways. As I had to spend a total of 4 weeks with strangers, NCS was able to help build my confidence to talk to different groups of people, help improve my communication and public speaking skills as we had to speak to different groups of people and help improve my ability to work a team through team building activities.
Achieved DOFE Bronze – May 2016
DOFE Bronze has taught me resilience and determination as we had to hike for around 6-8 hours 3 days in a row. Alongside NCS, DOFE has taught me how to work in a team and push others around me to do the best they can do in all circumstances.
Completed the Higher Sports Leadership Award – Level 3
The HSLA leadership award has not only helped me maintain my fitness levels, but has helped me become a more confident leader. Through working with primary school children, my leadership skills have been strengthened. Through this award, I feel more confident to communicate and present in front of a range of audiences.
- Work experience
I volunteered in Oxfam in Wembley between June and August of 2016 where I was able to work and interact with various people and customers. This was very helpful as it helped prepare me for different scenarios and different situations in a real work environment. During my time at Oxfam I was able to learn and practise new skills such as folding clothes to reorganise shelves in order to keep the floor tidy, alongside more experienced staff, I was able to work the cashier which again allowed me to interact with various types of customers helping improve my interaction skills.
