I am a patient tutor, who understands that every child has different needs in reading and different ways of learning. I think reading is a fundamental skill and is the foundation of a variety of skills from general confidence to public speaking.
The key aspects of reading I would like to cover depending on ability are fiction and non-fiction reading aloud, reading silently, spelling, the phonetic alphabet, comprehension, grammar, listening and vocabulary.
The main teaching materials I like to utilize are a whiteboard, interactive PowerPoint presentations, flashcards, activity worksheets, quizzes and of course reading books your child may bring to the lesson.
I know that it is difficult to get children interested in reading which is why I like to do something different each lesson, and make sure that every lesson is fun for your child. I will the start the lesson with a 'warm-up' activity such as a quick word game or riddle. Once your child is engaged we will start the main activities.
I also offer group tuition at a discounted price for children of the same reading ability, or if you have more than one child I can teach them back-to-back at a discounted price.
I am an an A-Level student studying Art, Psychology and Product Design. I have GCSEs in English, Maths, Science, Art, Graphic Design, R.E., History and French A*-B. I have taught a class of Year 4 children Religious Education regularly. I also have experience in babysitting, including local school runs if you are busy on a Tuesday or Friday.
