For English, I have a number of extracts which I find useful to look through with students in order to gauge their reading comprehension and begin to help them recognise linguistic techniques. In later sessions it's often most helpful to plan essays with the student, making sure that they're hitting all of the Assessment Objectives set by exam boards. In sociology and philosophy one of the best uses of time is going over some of the more difficult concepts which can be hard to understand without one on one tutoring. After I know the student has a firm grasp of some of the subject knowledge, the way to go is testing their understanding and application by planning and writing some of the shorter essays which often mae up philosophy and sociology papers (both at A level and GCSE).
I am a student who has just finished three A levels with excellent grades in English, Philosophy and Sociology. My subject knowledge on all three (as well as Religious Studies at GCSE for which I received an 8) is extensive and I have prior experience tutoring younger students in reading and comprehension.

I'm a confident, approachable person. I have no trouble effectively communicating with people of all ages and am able to hold conversations on a number of topics from classical history to 21st century sociology. I've been involved in a number of extracurricular activities during my time in education including drama dance and extensive training in both classical and jazz singing.
I read a great deal for pleasure and am confident discussing a number of layers within one text for example: social, political, allegorical. I also enjoy helping students with their own literacy and comprehension, a vital skill at all levels of education as well as in business.
As someone who acts as a reading mentor for younger students struggling with their extracurricular reading, I can certainly appreciate the importance of listening to what people have to say in order to help them to the best of my ability.
I have a significant amount of experience presenting as someone who did drama, singing and dance lessons every Saturday for over a decade. I have also loved helping others develop their public speaking ability as I feel being able to present your ideas coherently to an audience (no matter the size) is an invaluable tool for everyone.
