My teaching method is player-focused to ensure I work on specific weakness' and further develop their strengths. I develop on all aspects of tennis, through tailoured warm-ups, drills and matchplay scenarios.
I am confident working with children (2 years+) and adults of all ages.
Background: 13 years experience in tennis coaching, initially an assistant tennis coach at a well-established tennis club in Hertfordshire. I have also worked in schools across Buckinghamshire and Yorkshire, alongside my university studies. I have travelled to Auckland, New Zealand to gain international coaching experience. I am now based at UCS in Hampstead part-time but offer private lessons at your own home. I only work in Hampstead and the surrounding area due to limited availability as I am also a full-time physiotherapist.
Qualifications: LTA Level 3, enhanced DBS certificate, First Aid, Safeguarding Children & Adults, Cardio Tennis Instructor,
Degrees: MSc Physiotherapy; BSc (Hons) Sport Rehabilitation
Lessons must be cancelled 24 hours in advance, unless this is due to poor weather conditions.

With an interest and passion for teaching tennis, I sought out a job abroad to develop my skills further and gain international coaching experience. As part of this short term contract I developed young players at tennis clubs and schools across the Auckland region in New Zealand.
01/2015 – 12/2015. Development Coach at Nigel Willard Tennis and MK Inclusive.
With a focus on inclusion, those from under-represented socioeconomic backgrounds were funded to widen participation in the Milton Keynes region. As a highly qualified and experienced coach, I can easily adapt to suit all player’s needs; including visually impaired children.
03/2013 – 07/2014. Tennis Coach at South Hunsley Tennis Academy and Cherry Burton Tennis Club.
As a coach with a professional attitude and a drive to inspire and motivate players I increased participation in various group sessions. Alongside this, I have an excellent ability to interact with parents, players, other coaches and admin staff.
08/2012 – 03/2013. Assistant Tennis Coach at David Lloyd.
During this position, I became experienced in coaching beginners and advanced tennis players. I was also able to adapt my skills to coach adults alongside juniors.
01/2007 – 11/2015. Tennis Coach at Harpenden Lawn Tennis Club in Hertfordshire.
Within the mini tennis programme, I coached children from beginners to the performance programme for juniors. Due to my contribution as a coach, player and social member at Harpenden Lawn Tennis Club, I was awarded the Vice Presidents Award in 2011.
09/2012 –09/2014. Women’s Captain of Hull University Tennis Club
• Contributed to regular committee meetings and AGM’s to encourage participation and develop the club.
• Developed leadership skills by organising training, fitness sessions and tennis matches
• Played and managed the team to win the conference cup and awarded with half colours
Jo has been teaching my sons tennis for 6months and is great with children. The boys look forward to the lesson every week and are learning new skills.
