I have over 15 years experience as a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher and have taught a wide range of levels, from beginners ( CEF A1) right up to Proficiency level (CEF C1). My first job took me to Taiwan where I taught children aged 3-6 years old in several kindergartens and also taught the teachers after school. I am now back in Brighton on the south coast of the UK. I have an excellent knowledge of IELTS, having taught it to students from A2/B1 level (Pre-intermediate to intermediate level) to higher levels, meaning I am able to adapt to the level of the students. I believe passionately in helping anyone to progress in their English, whatever their goals. I am also able to proof read and correct dissertations.
In lesson-time I usually give some time to warm up the brain (!), some topic based discussions and use of a wide range of sources to keep the learning engaging, relevant and fun. I believe in keeping classes interesting to appeal to all levels of learners and I want students to feel comfortable to ask any questions that they may have. I am open-minded, flexible and interested in a wide range of things, from sports to literature ( I play tennis in a league and avidly read) languages to music (I speak French and play the piano).
Having taught in several countries I feel able to respond to the needs of learners from a variety of backgrounds and nationalities and my education, having attended both Nottingham Trent university (French with International Relations) and the University of Brighton (Occupational Therapy), means I am in prime position to be able to give guidance as to how to succeed at university in England, if this is your goal.
Come give me a try!
I have 15 years teaching experience and have helped many students in their aims, from achieving the right IELTS score to get in to university, to improving communication skills for work. I have attended both Nottingham Trent University where I studied French with International Relations and the University of Brighton where I studied Occupational Therapy. I completed a CELTA at St Giles International school in Brighton and have regularly attended conferences to keep up to date with the latest teaching methodology. I also have experience managing teachers in my role as senior teacher which allowed me to deepen my understanding of the teaching process and help to create new classes for the the students to enjoy, often tailored to their specific requirements. I am open minded, flexible and able to respond quickly to the demands of any teaching situation. I have a good understanding about what happens in the learning process and what can psychologically block people from effectively learning.
Proof reading at a rate starting at £12 per thousand words.

I attended St Giles where I successfully completed the CELTA training qualification, a course which marries together theory with real teaching practice. I attended Nottingham Trent University to study French with International Relations, including a one year study placement at Blaise Pascale University in Clermont-Ferrand, France. I also went to the University of Brighton to study Occupational Therapy. I have 10 GCSEs @ A-C, 3 A-Levels and as previously mentioned over 15 years experience teaching in different countries and teaching all levels, from beginners to proficiency.
