I am caring, supportive and positive. My enthusiasm for education often transfers well during teaching, allowing children to develop a thirst for learning through engaging in asking questions. I understand that each child is unique and all require a secure, caring and stimulating atmosphere, and I can help children to meet their potential through an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.
I cater for different learning styles within my teaching through a mixed learning approach in which I use various methods to help all learners – this includes the use of visual resources and learning through a hands-on approach. I always ensure that my lessons include varied activities promoting creativity in order to maintain pupils’ engagement and curiosity for learning. Simultaneously, I ensure that high expectations are set and pupils’ learning is stretched accordingly to achieve these expectations. To begin with, there will be a thorough introductory discussion regarding the child’s needs and preferred learning styles, to ensure that the child's needs are met along the way.
I recently gained my PGCE from the University of Nottingham and am currently supply teaching across various schools in Nottingham. Prior to my teacher training, I completed a degree in Comparative Literature at Queen Mary University of London. As part of my teacher training I was given the opportunity to work with children on a one-to-one basis, which showed me the benefits of individualised learning. Alongside tutoring, I have taught in primary schools over the last two years; this experience across schools and age ranges has provided me with an in-depth knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements at all primary age levels. As well as this, my subject knowledge is regularly kept up to date and I have sufficient experience of planning and delivering lessons effectively.
My child has received English and Maths tuition with Saveena. Whilst he has excelled academically, his confidence has also grown (noticed by myself and his teachers). Saveena explains things carefully, always checking my child's understanding - whilst challenging his thinking - throughout. My child received excellent marks in their SATs thanks to Saveena and her creativity, patience and great knowledge!
I was struggling in Spanish before I decided to start tuition with Saveena. She has tutored me for nearly a year now, but my learning improved just after a few weeks. She makes the lessons really fun and always clears up my mistakes well. She is really calm and understanding and I look forward to my lessons every week!
