If you are a prospective student or parent, looking for a teacher with enthusiasm and experience, you've come to the right place! All I ask for in my students is a keen interest in music - if you WANT to do it, everything else will fall into place.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach clarinet, piano and composition, to students of all ages and abilities.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a First Class honours degree in composition. In 2011 I obtained my ABRSM Music Performance Diploma (clarinet) with distinction.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35 for an hour's lesson in all subjects, and £25 for half an hour (I strongly advise an hour's lesson, except in the case of young children). I do not charge extra for travel, and students should purchase any teaching materials (i.e. music books) for themselves.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at the home of the student (and don't charge extra for travel). I am most willing to teach in North, West and Central London.
- When are you available?
This will very much depend on what works for the student. I am available most weekday evenings and all day on Monday and Wednesdays. Weekends will also be considered if the student wishes to have lessons then.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages from children to senior citizens. All abilities from beginner to advanced in clarinet and composition, and beginner to Grade 5 in piano and ABRSM theory exams.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM exams, Grades 1-8.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
If you have questions that haven't been answered above, then please get in touch. I am happy to teach everyone, so long as they are keen to learn music, and LOVE it!
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have performed all over the U.K as a clarinet player - I was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for two years and performed at high-profile venues and festivals such as the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. I also performed at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, and performed the National Anthem at the start of the Queen's Christmas Day speech in the same year. I have been composing since the age of 9, and have written for a wide range of professional groups, including a recent commission for the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a CRB check, which can be distributed if necessary.
