My teaching methodology is generally student-centred and task-based. I like to facilitate enquiry and to encourage pro-active, autonomous learning habits in all my learners. However, the needs of the learner, the environment in which learning is taking place and other factors can often require some creative adjustments to this catch-all approach. I have, for example, worked with learners who have some additional learning needs, and in such circumstances one has to be flexible in their approach. I am that person.
My background is in foreign languages and linguistics. I studied Chinese as an undergraduate and TESOL and linguistics at Masters level. I've taught literally thousands of hours of EFL classes in Asia and helped just as many students on their learning journeys to successes too many to mention here. I also hold a PGCE in English (ESOL and literacy) and more recently have been teaching language and functional skills classes to London-based learners from diverse backgrounds.
BA (Hons) Modern Languages (Chinese) - University of Westminster, London, UK

Over 20 years teaching and mentoring in English language classrooms in the UK, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia. I've taught and assessed at all age groups and all levels of competence from beginner through advanced. I have most recently been teaching functional skills and ESOL classes to learners here in the UK.
