I am passionate about my subject and I try to lead with that, engaging my class by drawing comparisons between the past and life as we know it today. I am endlessly fascinated by the relative proximity of huge past events, and try to instill this into my students - we are living history! The study of history is also the study of critical thinking, a skill which I think is more important now than ever; for this reason source analysis and provenance are vital. I enjoy the social aspect of history, and place a heavy focus upon historical context, using this to understand the motivations of our ancestors.
I have a degree in History from the University of York - one of the UK's top ten universities for history - and I have worked as a history teacher and English tutor whilst also working as an actor. I have taught History from Years 5-11 at an academy, and am equipped to tutor A-Level and degree level. I also have A-Levels in History of Art, English, and Art, subjects with which I am still very much engaged; and would be happy to take a multidisciplinary approach.
I offer a 10% discount on block bookings of 5 hours; and a 15% discount on 10 hour block bookings. This also applies to my online rates.
