I aim to be a fun and creative tutor finding things that appeal to each individual student. Tutoring various ages (15-18), I believe it is important to adapt my style and language to suit this. I ensure the chosen texts are read and thoroughly understood before moving on to exam preparation thus building the confidence of my students beforehand.
I am an undergraduate student studying in London. I have previously mentored family friends and fellow students, helping them achieve their desired grades. I am currently volunteering at my local secondary school to help current sixth formers with their coursework. I have helped all of my students to increase their marks by at least one grade.
For GCSE £20/h
For A-Level £30/h
Babysitting (2014 onwards) - Due to my parents working long hours and overseas, I would often look after both my sisters, taking them to school, walking them home, helping with any additional school work and preparing meals. This in particular helped me develop my own organisational skills as I learnt to not only manage their time but my own, as well as becoming more responsible.
Home tutoring (2016 - present) - After finishing my GCSE’s, I helped several family friends with their studies, ranging from three S-A-T subjects, six GCSE subjects to three A-Level ones. I would mentor them for around one hour a week in the subjects of their choice, this mainly included both English subjects (Language and Literature), History, Geography and Mathematics. All of the people that I helped went on to pass their exams as well as recommend me to others. From this experience I have learnt how to tailor conversations to engage people of all ages in order to motivate and obtain the best results.
Tutoring in an academic environment (2016 - present) - I have been involved in a mentoring scheme at my secondary school for several years, starting when I was in sixth form. I have helped the younger students to read, write and improve their mathematics. I would spend around ten minutes with the student on a daily basis, encouraging their social skills to grow and in turn, watching their grades improve. As an undergraduate, I have progressed to working with GCSE and A-Level students, editing and helping with coursework as well as preparation for their summer examinations.
I obtained an A grade in English Literature at A LEVEL
I am presently studying at Queen Mary University of London and am on target for at least a 2:1
Following an interview at Queen Mary University of London in 2016, I received the Outstanding Potential Award by an Academic Director
I was chosen to receive the History Award at Walsall Academy at the annual Awards Ceremony. This award, like all other subject awards, is given to the Student for achievements over the whole 7 years.
