London guitar, singing, music teacher; B.Mus (hons) degree; worked with Sting; 25 years experience.

Methodology

My methodology is simple - music can give you whatever you want, and by getting to know you I can understand how best to guide you in your journey. Whether you are someone who wants to perform at the Royal Albert Hall, or someone who wants to play for themselves, or someone who wants to write a hit song, or someone who simply wants to express themselves creatively, I can help you get to where you want to be. No two students have ever needed the same teaching method, thus I tailor how and what I am teaching depending on the students. I have taught young children beginners all the way up to professional gigging musicians.

A key thing for me is having something to work toward. I like my students to be learning to perform. My first gig taught me more in three and half minutes of singing one song that three and a half years of practicing in my bedroom. This can be something as simple as bringing in family to listen, or an open mic night somewhere in the city. This isn't for everyone, but every student who has worked towards a performance has learned more quickly and gained a lot from doing so.

Experience

I have a B.Mus (hons) degree in Jazz, Popular, and Commercial Music from Newcastle College (University of Sunderland), UK. As well as Grade 8 Music Theory and Grade 7 Vocals from the London College of Music. I have worked with Sting as both a lead and backing vocalist. I have performed full time around the world for the last 15 years, working in the UK, Poland, Russia, New Zealand, and Canada. I have had an iTunes #1 single in New Zealand and won the Rocky Mountaineer Song Competition in Canada. I have co-written the debut single, Say You Love Me, for NZ X-Factor finalist Anna Wilson.

I am currently studying for my MA in Acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and have worked in Television, Film, and stage.

I have over 25 years performance experience, everything from weddings, background hotel music, up to large arena gigs.

I have taught privately since graduating university in 2005, and I worked for the New Zealand Modern School of Music while I lived there 2006-2012.
