Louis - Teddington - Composition

Methodology

My ultimate goal as your teacher is to help you and guide you through mastering your instrument, enabling you to achieve your own personal musical style and goals. These goals may include the music grades, learning to improvise, understanding the Jazz or Classical language, learning to read music, or they may be purely for the sake of your own relaxation and enjoyment. "Piano students have the advantage of learning on my own full sized Yamaha C3 Conservatory grand piano."

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I`m a professional musician offering tuition in Saxophone, Clarinet, Piano and Music Theory. I have studied and completed courses at The Royal Academy of Music in London with stars like Gwilym Simcock, Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Peter King and Gerard Presencer. While specializing in Jazz and improvisation on both saxophone and piano, I can teach a wide variety of styles including the Classical grades from 1 to 8. My approach is relaxed, friendly and encouraging, yet at the same time I like to push my students to see them really improve and do well. My goal is to see them progress to a point where they have more and more freedom to express themselves musically. It does indeed take quite some discipline and perseverance, it's this I try hard to promote. I was fortunate enough to receive some of the very best tuition in my early days and I intend to pass this on to all my students. I can give coaching towards the ABRSM Classical grades 1 - 8, practical and theory. I'm also able to prepare students for the ABRSM Jazz grades and the ABRSM Jazz diploma. Alternatively I'm happy to teach the Guildhall or Trinity exam syllabus, if the student prefers. Piano students have the advantage of learning on my own full sized Yamaha C3 Conservatory grand piano.
