My method is determined by the particular needs of each student. For example, some students may require help understanding complex theory, this involving finding ways to make information more relatable, whereas other students may grasp material quickly, but have difficulty retaining or applying knowledge. I strive to create a positive and encouraging environment in which teaching can be tailored to allow my tutees to realise their full academic potential. I take a discursive approach to teaching, involving lots of questioning and discussion, encouraging students to think for themselves. In order to motivate students, I believe in the importance of regular recapping of previous sessions’ material in order to allow the student to recognise their progress
I have been tutoring students both inside and outside of school since graduating in 2011 with a First Class degree from LSE. I have tutored around 25 students at levels from GCSE to second year undergraduate, and have assisted hundreds of students with their UCAS personal statements.
