I provide 1 to 1 customised and specific support for children diagnosed with Dyslexia, who may present with dyslexic tendencies and learning difficulties. I also carry out informal assessments to confirm a suspicion of dyslexia.

Support is offered in the following areas:
• General organisation
The format is for a fixed number of sessions to be agreed, so that strategies introduced may be used at school while the student is being supported as well as after the support sessions have stopped. More sessions may then be booked either to reinforce current strategies or to introduce new ones.
The process starts with a free one hour informal session to meet with the student and parents to discuss the student's needs, the expectations of the student and parents, any professional recommendation and the initial plan of what support will be provided.

Home service: Primary school student
£40 per 45 minute session
Payment for sessions may be made:
1. Per session : £40.00
2. Per half term (6 weeks) : £228 (£38 per session, saving £12)
3. Per term (12 weeks) : £450 (£37.50 per session, saving £30)
Home service: Secondary school student
£50 per hourly session
Payment for sessions may be made:
1. Per session : £50.00
2. Per half term (6 weeks) : £288 (£48 per session, saving £12)

School service: In school support (primary and secondary)

- Where do you teach?
Support is provided at my home in comfortable, light and airy surroundings with parent present (in the adjoining room).
Support may also be provided at the student's school. Schools may allow support to increase 'interventions' currently being carried out at school with a LSA. These are usually done during the school day. Secondary schools may allow support as above, during a free period, one half of lunch or after school.

Saturday: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Primary and Secondary school age.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
The nature of the support is to provide students with strategies they can use at school to enable students to become confident and independent learners.
Objectives and targets are established from information provided by the child, the parents and relevant professionals. A profile is then created for each child, which will pinpoint the exact nature of their learning need. Strategies are developed to target these particular areas. The aims and objectives detailed in the profile will be reviewed periodically to ensure that targets are being met. Progress and feedback will be monitored to ensure continued progress.

I aim to:
enable students with learning difficulties to become confident and independent learners with a 'can do' attitude.
Encourage students, who wish it, to aspire to continue with further education and ultimately a chosen profession in later life
Sessions are interactive, involve a variety of tasks thus making the sessions fun and enjoyable for the student.
A 'Scheme of work' for each student will be developed and will cover the following:
• What are we trying to achieve (Target)
• What the student already knows
• How this fits in with current school work
• Proposed number of lessons
- What kind of experience do you have?
10 years' experience of working with children aged 0 -18 years:
• Providing 1 to 1 support of children diagnosed with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dyspraxia.
• Working as a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator providing support for a range of needs such as Downs syndrome, ADHD, Autism, various learning difficulties and medical needs.
• Working as a Learning Support assistant in a number of primary schools.
• Working as a SEN learning support assistant in a specialist Special Education Needs school.
• Lecturing 16 – 18 year olds with a range of emotional/behaviour problems and physical disabilities, in childcare.
• Working with pre-schoolers in various nurseries, supervising and providing advice in various Sure Start run facilities, parent and toddler groups as well as privately run crÃ¨ches.
As a result of Working as an employed and freelance IT Systems Analyst for 15 years, with and within teams in various commercial settings, working with pupils at College and children in pre-schools and toddler groups I have acquired the following:

• Ability to work unsupervised, organise, plan and time manage tasks
• The motivation, supervision and support of adult team members, pupils and children to enable them to complete their tasks effectively, successfully and to the best of their abilities.

- Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently support a number of both primary and secondary school students, some at school and some at home. Their needs vary from mild to severe and hence the support I provide is customised for each child according to their needs. This includes fine motor skill improvement, reading, writing and spelling support, help with mathematical concepts, help with short term memory, processing, sequential, general organisational and self esteem/confidence issues.
