Beginners 6 week singing course:
This beginners singing course is designed to set you up as a vocalist. We use fun games and exercises, with breath and pitch control to build up a clear vocal tone leading to confidence in your singing. It normally takes five to eight weeks to develop these skills enough that you can use them consciously, so do be patient with yourself. You will also need to practice at home, every day for at least ten minutes to make good progress. So this course teaches you how to warm up your voice at home and how to avoid vocal damage. Learning to sing is like building up your muscles in a gym. After six weeks you will have a strong platform to sing from. Finding your voice is a very interesting and fun processâ€¦it has to be fun! The course is a great way to develop your vocal confidence. Whether you want to learn to sing for yourself, to perform at an open mic or join a choir, this beginners course will give you the confidence and the skills you need to get up and sing. Lessons are recorded so you can practice with them at home. These courses can be one-to-one or as a group.
Intermediate 6 week singing course:
The intermediate singing course will take you to the next level as a singer. We will improve on your vocal projection, breath and pitch control, strengthening the voice and expand the vocal range, and we will also work on rhythm, pulse, phrasing, diction and song interpretation - singing with feeling and communicating the story of the song. Plus we will introduce ear training, inner listening, harmony and performance and microphone skills. You will need to practice in your own time, in-between lessons for at least twenty minutes a day to make good progress. So this course teaches you how to use your voice with confidence and develop your choices in interpretation and performance styles. Lessons are recorded so you can practice with them at home. These courses can be one-to-one or as a group.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach ages 6 months to adult, and from complete beginners to professionals.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Although I'm happy to prepare students for Grade 5 theory, the Kodaly approach is a much deeper and broader type of music learning. The UK music exams tend to interrupt the flow, as they don't really encompass the broad scope of musicianship that we teach with Kodaly. I find that the students learn much more deeply and more quickly when they are not constrained by the narrow confines of the usual music exams. After following the Kodaly approach for a few years the usual music exams are extremely easy and all our students pass with distinctions and credits. - Do you have a personal message for students?
I offer tailored lessons in: singing, fear of singing, vocal quality, sight-reading and music theory. I teach in different styles; World, Folk, Classical, Soul, Gospel, Jazz, Pop. With my help you will improve on, or learn, how to expand and strengthen: your voice, increase your breath control, vocal range, tuning, pitch recognition, improvisation, song interpretation and also natural voice care and singing posture. Exploring your voice through singing can also build confidence in other areas of life and develop individuality. My approach is: if it's not fun or joyful, we're doing it wrong! - What kind of experience do you have?
I've been teaching KodÃ¡ly method for over 20 years to all ages and levels, including children aged from 6 months upwards. I've also been performing around London with children's groups, choirs, jazz bands and different ensembles. As a choral singer I've performed with many excellent choirs and musicians in Europe and the USA. I've set up my own projects in nurseries, arts centres, after school clubs and run voice workshops for voice and healing, mental health, vocal confidence. I've set up community choirs and held local artist parties (soirees) to showcase all arts.

Yes I do.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I have studied since childhood with Kodaly teachers in Blackpool, London and Hungary and I continue to do so for professional development, and pleasure, usually in summer schools.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Yes: Musicians' Union; British Kodaly Academy, English Folk Dance and Song Society, (EFDSS).
- Tell me about some of your current students.
One of my students is interested in soul, gospel and jazz style. We communicate very well together.She's returning to singing and is very focused about what she wants to learn with me, which is regaining a strong vocal tone and confidence, deeper breathing and projection, improvisation and song writing. I'm teaching three groups of 3-5 year olds in weekly kindergarten sessions, where they are learning singing and listening skills, rhythm, pulse and vocal pitch hand signs, plus dynamics and percussion, in preparation for playing orchestral instruments. Another primary aged girl is learning musicianship with me through beginner piano. She has autism, I recently discovered, and learns very quickly. But practice is hard for her because it takes up some of her mum's time every day.
