- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I am a very approachable teacher and fully understand the difficulties students can experience in their understanding of Chemistry. I offer high quality Chemistry tuition to A level, IB, IGCSE and GCSE level and also KS3 Science and Organic Chemistry at Undergraduate level. I can always be contacted outside of lesson time to give help and advice. I offer support and advice on all aspects of applications for University courses through UCAS and I am happy to review and advise on personal statements. I am also available to help students with interview practice for Medicine, Dentistry and Oxbridge courses. I work together with highly qualified and experienced Physics and Biology teachers and tutors if you need additional support with these subjects.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have qualified teacher status and my qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, a PhD Analytical Biochemistry and a PGCE specialising in Science/Chemistry
- How much do you charge?
I charge £50 per hour for KS3, GCSE IB pre U and A level tutoring and £50 for Organic Chemistry tuition at Degree level. A reduced rate would be available for teaching two students in one session.
- Where do you teach?
I tutor from my own home in Canterbury which enables me to use my wealth of resources to expand on any difficult areas during a tutoring session. As I am currently teaching and tutoring high ability students, I am fully familiar and up to date with all the AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications. As an experienced grammar school teacher, I am ideally placed to give excellent, accurate advice on how to achieve the highest grades. I particularly concentrate on practising exam technique and have a wealth of practice questions, papers and exercises.
- When are you available?
I am available during the day on some weekdays, at weekends and during the school holidays and can be flexible with arrangements if necessary. I know how busy students and parents can be and I will always try to accommodate to your requests!

KS3, GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, IB and Organic Chemistry to Undergraduate level

A level, IB , IGCSE and GCSE Chemistry -all the exam boards

There is the possibility of tutoring Organic Chemistry to undergraduates online.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
My students will tell you that I am very approachable and empathetic to the needs of each of my tutees and can always be contacted between sessions to give advice and support. I believe that my success is down to taking a personal interest in the difficulties encountered by each of my students and a very thorough approach to the preparation of each tutoring session. My aim is always to enthuse and install confidence in my tutees so that they can achieve their full potential and excellent results. I am as flexible as possible with my arrangements and am available during the daytime on some weekdays, evenings, weekends and during the school holidays.
I tutor from my own home so that I have all my resources and software available to me during a tutoring session. As I am a qualified teacher who is currently teaching in a school environment, I am fully familiar with the course specifications of the different exam boards and I am ideally placed to give my students accurate advice on how to achieve the highest grades. I work with other experienced and highly qualified specialist Physics and Biology tutors should you need help with these subjects.

- What kind of experience do you have?
I am a highly qualified Chemistry teacher with over 20 years' experience teaching and tutoring within both the State and Independent sector. I have taught at Grammar Schools in Kent and have a proven track record of successful exam results for my students. I am a Chemistry graduate and have a PhD in Analytical Chemistry and Biochemistry as well as a PGCE. My aim is to enthuse and install confidence in my tutees so that every student can achieve their full potential and excellent results. In the past I have helped students to achieve the high grades at GCSE and A level necessary for University courses at Russell Group Universities and Oxbridge. I have been called an inspirational teacher by my students and always aim to make tutoring an enjoyable, confidence boosting experience for all of my pupils and tutees, whatever their age. I am particularly interested in SEN and have enjoyed tutoring students with a variety of SEN issues.

I studied at the University of Cardiff for my first Degree in Chemistry and PhD in Analytical Biochemistry and completed my PGCE at the University of Bath
- Tell me about some of your current students.
My past students include Yr 12 and Yr 13 A level students wishing to pursue careers in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy who have achieved A or A* grades in Chemistry and those applying for University courses in Science and Engineering at Russell Group Universities. I have also tutored Yr 10 and Yr 11 GCSE and IGCSE Chemistry and Science students who have needed to consolidate their work, sometimes on account of periods of absence through the year .
Amongst my past tutees, who I took on at the start of Year 13, are students who have progressed from a Grade D at AS to either an A*, A or B at A2, enabling them to study subjects including Veterinary Science, Medicine, Engineering and Biochemistry at their first choice Russell group Universities.
