Dr Mandy Wathey Canterbury: Chemistry Tuition by highly qualified and experienced Grammar School Teacher

Methodology

I am a highly experienced specialist grammar school teacher and tutor of Chemistry and have enjoyed helping numerous students to achieve the highest grades at GCSE and A level required for entry to Medicine, Oxbridge & Russell group Universities.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I am a very approachable teacher and fully understand the difficulties students can experience in their understanding of Chemistry. I offer high quality Chemistry tuition to A level, IB, IGCSE and GCSE level and also KS3 Science and Organic Chemistry at Undergraduate level. I can always be contacted outside of lesson time to give help and advice. I offer support and advice on all aspects of applications for University courses through UCAS and I am happy to review and advise on personal statements. I am also available to help students with interview practice for Medicine, Dentistry and Oxbridge courses. I work together with highly qualified and experienced Physics and Biology teachers and tutors if you need additional support with these subjects.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have qualified teacher status and my qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, a PhD Analytical Biochemistry and a PGCE specialising in Science/Chemistry

- How much do you charge?

I charge £50 per hour for KS3, GCSE IB pre U and A level tutoring and £50 for Organic Chemistry tuition at Degree level. A reduced rate would be available for teaching two students in one session.

- Where do you teach?

I tutor from my own home in Canterbury which enables me to use my wealth of resources to expand on any difficult areas during a tutoring session. As I am currently teaching and tutoring high ability students, I am fully familiar and up to date with all the AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications. As an experienced grammar school teacher, I am ideally placed to give excellent, accurate advice on how to achieve the highest grades. I particularly concentrate on practising exam technique and have a wealth of practice questions, papers and exercises.

- When are you available?

I am available during the day on some weekdays, at weekends and during the school holidays and can be flexible with arrangements if necessary. I know how busy students and parents can be and I will always try to accommodate to your requests!

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

KS3, GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, IB and Organic Chemistry to Undergraduate level

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

A level, IB , IGCSE and GCSE Chemistry -all the exam boards

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

There is the possibility of tutoring Organic Chemistry to undergraduates online.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

My students will tell you that I am very approachable and empathetic to the needs of each of my tutees and can always be contacted between sessions to give advice and support. I believe that my success is down to taking a personal interest in the difficulties encountered by each of my students and a very thorough approach to the preparation of each tutoring session. My aim is always to enthuse and install confidence in my tutees so that they can achieve their full potential and excellent results. I am as flexible as possible with my arrangements and am available during the daytime on some weekdays, evenings, weekends and during the school holidays.

I tutor from my own home so that I have all my resources and software available to me during a tutoring session. As I am a qualified teacher who is currently teaching in a school environment, I am fully familiar with the course specifications of the different exam boards and I am ideally placed to give my students accurate advice on how to achieve the highest grades. I work with other experienced and highly qualified specialist Physics and Biology tutors should you need help with these subjects.

At the moment I have slots available for September so please have a read of the testimonials from some of my past students and do not hesitate to contact me either by phone or email to discuss your needs further so that we can design an individual tutoring programme to enable you to achieve higher grades in this excellent subject. I look forward to hearing from you to find out how I can improve your confidence and help you achieve higher grades!

Dr Wathey has been a great help to me and due to her hard work and dedication she motivated me to work harder and I have achieved an A in Chemistry. Dr Wathey teaches chemistry in an inspiring manner, one that has driven me to want to study Chemistry at University. Not only does she help with her specialist subject, she will try to help anyway possible with any other queries with University or other subjects. She is a very polite person who is a pleasure to be taught by.
