Experienced, Friendly and Affordable 11+ tutor who is sincere and hard-working and promises to help bring out the best in your child.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I specialise in 11+ training in Maths (Key Stage 1, 2 & 3), Verbal reasoning, Non-Verbal reasoning and English (Comprehension, Essay Writing and Grammar). I offer an initial 2 hour trial lesson followed by a personalised assessment/evaluation. From then on, each lesson ( minimum 2 hours) will be followed by personalised feedback. I offer hundred of free test papers to Year 5 parents. The mock exams I conduct are available to my students at a discounted rate with some free spaces for those who cannot afford. I have also recently started KS3 & KS4 tuitions using brilliant teachers who currently work in Secondary Schools as Department Heads.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BSc in Maths and Computer Science and BA in English Language and Literature. I am an ACII qualified insurance professional. I am also a qualified coach.
- How much do you charge?
My daughter successfully got into Wallington Girls High School a few years ago and I know how the 11+ training industry has become such an expensive business which really puts parents under undue stress and therefore, I try to keep my fees lower than other reputed private tutors in the area. My fees are £20/hour for Year 3, Year 4 and £25 per hour for Year 5 for group lessons from my home (8-10 students in a group based on levels). Fees for one to one and late admissions vary and are higher.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from a hired classroom in the building of Harris Academy, Purley, CR2 6DT. I also offer a unique writing feedback service. Take a look at this... (concealed information)
- When are you available?
Evenings and Weekends
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Ages 9 to 11, Keys stages 2 to 3 and GCSE. If your child is in Year 3, lessons will be provided by another fantastic tutor (fully D.B.S checked) who will use my lesson plans and homework structure. This will be KS2 based lessons and not 11+ focussed as I don't believe that students in classes lower than year 4 need 11 plus tutoring.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
11+ Entrance exams to secondary schools, SATS
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can tutor online using a variety of modern tools.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I don't pressurise you into cramming the information just for the purpose of passing the test. I think this is wrong as you might then struggle later on. I structure the 11+ training in a way that you get a thorough basic foundation in each subject on which I then build the test modules. I teach using fun, interactive technology on my iPad and homework is given via emails. You will need to promise to practice at least 30 minutes a day and I will promise to get you as prepared as you could be. I know all about exam nerves and the high expectations on you from family and friends and I will coach you to do your best. Because that is all you can do. And remember, whichever secondary school you get into, if you work hard, you will do well!
- What kind of experience do you have?
I am a mum of 2 with many years' experience in tutoring and coaching students privately to prepare them for the 11+ entrance exam to various schools in the Croydon, Sutton and Bromley areas. I have a 100% success rate in Grammar School exams in the last 3 years.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I have an enhanced DBS certificate issued March 2016, copy available.
- Where and with whom did you train?
Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, University of Kerala in India, Open University, CII Institute, ACR, RSA

My daughter started with Manju at the beginning of her year 5, I found her lessons to be well planned and structured. Homework reinforced what had been taught in class. In addition to preparing her students for 11+, Manju keeps parents up to date with school information throughout the whole process, whether this be open evenings, application deadline dates or mock grammar school dates. She also provides helpful feedback after each lesson. My daughter was offered an out of catchment place at her
We were recommended Manju by a friend and my daughter started attending her 11+ classes at the end of year 4. Additionally, as we had recently moved from India, my daughter had a lot to catchup. However, thanks to Manju's constant guidance, my daughter was able to catchup with the 11+ studies and she has now been selected in Wallington Girls' Grammar school. Manju gives a lot of practice and regular exams, various kinds of writing techniques, essays, etc.
