With marketing I like to teach the main principles & theories & then ask students to analyse a recent business case study & present their conclusions & recommendations. It's a strategic approach, pragmatic & very 'consultant' style approach to marketing. Obviously understanding the lesson, ability to apply it while important, your priority will be being able to write assignments & pass exams with excellent grades. So we go for that too.
I currently own & run my own small software business on-line having taken it from an idea to a 6-figure business. I have a small team giving me more time to teach others. I have also worked as a marketing & business consultant as well as a university lecturer.
I charge for my time, not my petrol. So travel is charged by time spent driving to & from the location. I can offer on-line which saves money or by prior arrangement a student can come to my home. No charge for coffees! 24-hours notice for cancellation. The lesson will be delivered as a video tutorial & a link to a private dropbox will be sent to the student. This will be charged at same hourly rate but the student can have a 1-2-1 phone call for a maximum of 20 minutes if they have received a video.
