Hello I'm Martin, a graduate of the Royal College of Music and very much interested in imparting what I have learned to bassoonists and clarinettists in London today.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I am a bassoonist by trade but also teach Clarinet and Theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have just graduated from the Royal College of Music with a BMus (Hons) and also have grade 8s in jazz clarinet (trinity and guildhall) and theory (abrsm).
- How much do you charge?
I charge £25 pounds for an hour long lesson and £15 for half an hour.
- Where do you teach?
I am willing to go to students' houses and to travel to most areas in west London, but am based mainly in the Southfields area.
- When are you available?
I am very flexible with times for lessons and will try to find a time suitable for them.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach all ages, and can teach bassoon to grade 8 and beyond. I am also happy to teach grade 5 theory and clarinet.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am prepared to train students for abrsm exams and those of other main exam boards if that is what the student wishes to aim for, however I do not see exams as an essential part of musical training and the most important factor for me is that the student is enjoying the process of learning an instrument.
- What kind of experience do you have?
As well as private teachingh experience I was awarded a first in the standard instrumental teaching module of my music degree and am used to working with young people due to working for 3 consecutive summers as one of the staff on a (non-musical) summer residential course. I also have experience directing small ensembles.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes I have a current CRB certificate from my work on summer residential courses
