- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I tutor all Science subjects and Mathematics at GCSE. Preferably I tutor 'A' level (AS and A2) students in Maths and Physics.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I am not a school teacher and never have been (and wouldn't want to be). My degree is courtesy of Exeter University and the Open University.
- How much do you charge?
£16 for 1 hour and £6 for the next half hour. The extra half hour is always optional, but invariably my students always take it. Also I charge 25p per mile travel expense.
- Where do you teach?
Normally at the student's home, but if too far away, sometimes a mutually agreed venue - ie school, college, library can work very well and keep down travel time and cost.
- When are you available?
Usually free during school holidays. Other times of year, please just enquire.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Age not relevant, but (as above):
All science subjects and mathematics at GCSE. Preferably I tutor 'A' level (AS and A2) students in Maths. and Physics. Possible help with relevant OU courses as well.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I do not currently tutor on-line.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I believe I have a gift for putting over complicated ideas in terms of the simpler ideas of which they are composed. Also a good tutor is able to put themselves into the mind of their student, whereas a bad tutor has to have their mind read by the unfortunate student - I speak from my own learning experiences from years and decades past.
- What kind of experience do you have?
It occured to me in mid 2006 that I could use my wide science and mathematics knowledge to benefit students and, of course, earn some money.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I have a recent CRB enhanced disclosure and one older one.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
