I believe in getting to know each of my students personally so I can tap into their personal motivations and interests. I am equally comfortable teaching native english speakers as well as those for whom english is an additional language.
I have been teaching in international, private schools across the world from Europe to Asia and Africa for more than 20 years. My main area of expertise are Maths and Reading interventions for 5-11 year olds and I especially love supporting kids who find maths challenging or who have lost interest, confidence or motivation.
I offer different packages depending on how much additional work is involved in preparing lessons. Happy to discuss your individual needs.
Qualified teacher with BA (Honours) from London University in 1993. In 2010, I achieved my Masters Degree in Technology Integration. I am also a Google Level 2 instructor, Apple Teacher and Seesaw Certified Educator.
My current full-time role is in Maths Leadership, supporting students, parents and teachers in the advancement of mathematical pedagogy.
I use pre-assessments (usually through conversations, games and prompting questions) to find out where each student is on their learning journey. Next, I plan my lessons thoughtfully in order to scaffold and build opportunities for development.
I teach in an enquiry-based, conceptual manner as i believe that truly learning only sticks when students are able to see the connections between distinct content.
Mostly, I seek to develop an enjoyment of learning in my students so they feel empowered and proficient.
Perfect! Our two boys (6 and 8 years old) have had the first introduction lesson with Susan and both the children and we are very happy with how the lesson turned out. Susan were able to connect and build up great rapport with the kids and she were able to meet them at their own different levels. It was apparent that at the same time she was also analysing a range of factors in relation to drawing up study plans. The result of this was some detailed plans and options on moving forward tailored to each of our kids. Susan comes across as very experienced and professional as well as very friendly. We are happy to have booked further lessons for our kids and would highly recommend Susan without hesitation.
These two brother are delightful. They are strong communicators and like to interact with the teacher. Their communication skills are strong and they are willing to follow guidance and instructions.
S was my son's teacher and as a family, we have only praise for her style of teaching. Professional, friendly, motivational and knowledgeable. Lessons are well organised, often inquiry based, with constant learning growth in mind. Our child enjoyed every lesson and was able to achieve excellence in academic learning.
