I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Biology and have recently completed my Master’s degree in Forensic Toxicology. I have a keen interest and passion for science and maths and would love the opportunity for my enthusiasm to be shown through students requiring my aid in their studies. I am passionate about helping and guiding students to achieve their full potential and improve their performance. I also understand that there are a range of learning techniques that might be more appropriate for different people. I recognise learning should be tailored to individual students whilst remaining interesting and engaging therefore I aim to prepare lessons and exercises that are appropriate for each student for their specific topics. I currently work in a University so have access to many online resources which are both useful to me and students which require tutoring.
I have experience of tutoring and supervising undergraduate students during their summer placements and research projects. Instruments, protocols, literature and statistical programs were taught and explained so that they could both understand the principles and then work independently, once their understanding was sound. This developed my skills to compact large and complex pieces of information into bite sized facts and examples that could be easily understood. This allowed them to progress with their work and meet deadlines with confidence.
I am a forensic biology graduate with expertise in toxicology, spectroscopy and analysis of drugs and medicines. My areas of interest consist of biological science and data analysis. I am currently seeking a role in industry relating to pharmaceuticals, chemicals, research and statistics.
My Laboratory skills include : Analytical and wet chemistry including chemical dilutions and buffet preparations, GC-MS, HP-LC, TLC, UV-Vis, liquid chromatography, assays, western-blotting, ELISA, IR, NIR, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy. DNA quantification and
amplification by PCR for DNA fingerprinting. Culturing bacteria and testing pharmaceutical resistance. Calibration and validation of instruments. Characterisation of pharmaceutical products; quantification of active and inactive ingredients.
