My teaching method is teaching independence to each unique student. I base my tutoring on if the student could complete (and check) a problem on the given topic/subject when alone. This is the final review for the student at the end of each session. At the beginning of each lesson, I will do an overview over the topic. Once this overview is completed, I will ask the student if they have any questions. If not, they will explain to me in other words what I have taught them thus far. Once completed, we will talk about the general applications of this topic in the real world using real-world questions (I believe if you can interpret answer word problems, you can answer any problem that only has numbers). This lesson plan is subject to how each student reacts to the teachings. If this doesn't work, I am willing to work with any student on the best way for them to obtain the knowledge they would like to learn.
I am a Sophomore majoring in Biomedical Science at the University of Southern Mississippi. I tutored for three years in high school and every year in college to after-school tutoring sessions and one-on-one requested lessons. One student that I tutored was failing her Algebra class in college. After my help and guidance in showing her how to study, how to research further into topics, and how to apply her knowledge, she was able to pass the class. The larger sections that I helped tutor were able to go on to advance into higher level math courses in high school because of their massive success on the state tests and in-class exams.
