Throughout my PGCE I tried many different teaching styles and have yet to pinpoint one that truly represents me. I am relaxed and easy going (when appropriate, of course) but I will always offer clear and concise methods and explanations within Mathematics. When I was a student I always enjoyed trying to find my own way to solve mathematical problems as opposed to just learning a method without truly understanding what maths I was actually doing. I look forward to helping other students do the same. This is something that is, unfortunately, quite difficult to do with an entire classroom full of learners. With smaller groups I feel I can unlock this potential and allow my pupils to master their own methods and gain a true understanding of their curriculum.
Mathematics graduate currently mid-way through PGCE in Secondary Mathematics. I began my course in September 2016 and will be completing my last placement in September of this year. In the mean time I feel working with smaller groups or even 1 to 1 will allow to me to enhance my own teaching ability as well as offering students the opportunity to reach their potential. I can offer more focused and unique learning tailored to them; something they may not be getting in the classroom.
