When teaching, I like to ensure that the learner has a thorough understanding of the concepts and the content taught but most importantly, teaching is meant to be fun for both the teacher and the student. I therefore prefer to engage the learner as much as possible by giving as many real world examples as possible to provide an intuition as well as an appreciation for the topic being taught. Both confidence and a sense of achievement is vital, and so by keeping a record of the progress made whilst constantly pushing the student to conquer more challenging content, I like to prove to students that they are capable of achieving any goal.
As a part of my PhD, I am required to take a class in Calculus for undergraduate mathematics students, as well as participating in a drop-in session designed to help those who are unfamiliar with mathematics by providing both one-to-one and group tuition. I occasionally help out at a children's chess club, and have work experience at a school teaching KS3, GCSE, and A-level Mathematics.
