I generally prefer to let the student take charge of their learning so that we can focus on what they feel they need help on, but I do understand from personal experience that people often like to stay on topics they are good at as that is more comfortable. To avoid this, I ask that students do general exercises that I will prepare every few weeks to highlight any weak areas and to serve as progress indicators. My priority is to boost a student's confidence in themselves because I believe it helps in understanding one's mistakes before they can be rectified, and to find different ways of explaining because the hard work can be finding the one example that helps things click.
I am a university student and have experience giving private and group tutoring sessions. For the past couple of years I have run a bi-weekly drop-in session for all high school students and my GCSE students have attained grades A (or 7) and above.
I am a first year Computer Science and Mathematics student aiming to base my career in cyber security. I love my subjects for demanding a thorough understanding of concepts from multiple viewpoints and I enjoy the hard work required for that moment of clarity.
