I think the best way is to discover the student's learning style, as everyone is different. From there I can adapt my approach based on what comes most naturally to each student, but I think regular repetition is important for virtually everyone and making sure the student participates as much as possible and has their own input rather than the teacher speaking all the time.
My name is Matthew. I'm looking to try my hand at tutoring as I've often been told I'm great at explaining things and great with the kids. I'm 30 years old, been self-employed the past 3 years and have my own little business not related to tutoring. I have a Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry and Genetics (University of Nottingham) and a Masters in Cancer Cell and Molecular Biology (University of Leicester), as well as A levels in Maths, Physics, Human Biology, and Chemistry, and AAT levels 2 and 3 (accountancy).
I do not possess any teaching qualifications, but I'm a pleasant and friendly individual. I'm new to tutoring, however I have worked with people before on a voluntary basis, including the more vulnerable individuals. Aside from my speciality, which is maths and sciences, I also want to try teaching English to foreign students, as I am bilingual myself and have some experience of learning a foreign language.
I am an analytical, reliable, and resourceful person, with excellent problem solving skills and good time management. Accustomed to working on own initiative and as part of a team, I am able to interact effectively with people at all levels from a wide variety of backgrounds.
