I am a 22 year old male ex-student at Coventry University who studied BSc (Hons) in Mathematics. I studied maths and further maths at A-Level.
Lessons tend to be heavily conversation based. You give me a question or a topic and we work through it step by step, with me allowing you an opportunity to figure each part out before I help you where you're struggling. I tend to teach topics from the ground up and I'll ask you/assess after each section if you're happy with it. I am not going to lecture you. I tend to be quite energetic and complimentary to keep you awake, especially if you're not keen on maths (which I completely understand and can often empathise with).
Functional Skills, GCSE, and A-Level Maths (Not further maths)
I currently have 4 students of varying levels with a tutoring agency all of whom are extremely happy with their progress.
I volunteered as a One to One teaching assistant and occasional classroom leader from when I was 16 until I was 19, for my Duke of Edinburgh volunteering section. I often spent hours helping out college friends having to resit their maths GCSE in 1 to 1 sessions because they felt like they weren't getting enough help from the college or they preferred my style. I also helped a friend of mine who is three years younger than me with his A-Level Mechanics last year.
So I helped teach four classes for a year. I would do lessons for two behavioral needs classes every few months while at college and have also taught at least 5 One to One students. All my GCSE maths students attained at least a C.
If you live in the city centre and don't want to come to me, I'm not going to charge you travel. I'd say anything within a roughly a mile of the University Hub is perfectly reasonable and we can discuss it anyway. £4 will cover my transport if you live further than that.
