I am a PhD student currently studying exhaust emissions and computational fluid dynamics at Northumbria University in Newcastle. I am looking to teach children up to A level in Maths and Physics as well as GCSE Chemistry.
I have an enthusiastic approach to teaching whereby I do my best to put context into what the students are learning. I find a contextual approach will allow students to understand why something happens which develops their understanding of how things happens. I am a big advocate of describing a topic in different ways in order to make it 'click' in the students mind.
I have a Masters Degree in Marine Engineering from Newcastle University and previously worked as a professional engineer before returning to my studies.
I have been teaching as an engineering instructor in Sea Cadets for 2 years where I have undergone full child safety check (DBS) and been trained in safeguarding and welfare. I regularly teach groups of 5-10 however I prefer smaller groups as I can get a better grasp of what students understand. My students enjoy my enthusiastic approach to teaching. The Sea Cadets I teach go on to achieve a level 2 BTEC in engineering maintenance.
At Northumbria University I demonstrate and teach degree level mechanical engineering experiments.
