Being around children has always been a fun experience for me, as I have always looked at them as innocent minds with a potential to create better future in this world. This is why I have always been very keen about tutoring younger students.
If parents or guardians have anything that they'd want me to add or change within my teaching style, they could discuss them with me anytime. I would try my best to alter the way I teach, if that is beneficial to the students' learning.
I have already tutored one primary and one secondary student last year, which makes me somewhat experienced with teaching and assisting younger students with their educational life. Other than my two former students, I am always around my 8 year old cousin, who I have to help with homework from time-to-time. This allows me to be slightly updated with the way other year groups are getting taught these days.
I have picked up basic skills from my previous work experience and volunteering jobs, i.e. punctuality and being organised. When it comes to teaching, I use the listed two skills the most. I always plan the tuition sessions from beforehand, and also bring along worksheets for the students to do during the session. Beginning the sessions with starter is a great strategy of mine for the students to jog their mind, ensuring they don't completely forget what they have learnt. Even though I believe, homework is something that the students should do on their own, I am always available to assist them on those if they are stuck. I also provide them with my own set of homework, as I believe practice makes perfect.
