My name is Liam, I am currently an MSci Mathematics student at Queens University, Belfast, in my third year. I have previously tutored several GCSE students, helping them gain an understanding in a wide range of topics within the syllabus. Fortunately I have received very good feedback from those I have tutored.
It is important in Mathematics to practice independently, but first a student must receive a detailed and comprehensive explanation on how to approach such a question/ topic. Relevant examples are key. I aim to provide this.
I have previously tutored two GCSE students in the subject of Maths. I have covered several key topics such as Trigonometry, algebraic equations, quadratic equations, tips on plotting both linear and quadratic graphs on the x-y plane, dealing with fractions, etc.
I tutored one student for approximately a year; thankfully the feedback received from the student and parents was very positive. The student is currently on course to passing GCSE Mathematics, and I hope the student can achieve a minimum B grade, despite sitting on a low D prior to our sessions.
During the course of my degree in Mathematics, I feel I've gained invaluable skills which would aid me in many different workplaces.
I have experience in working with computer applications such as Microsoft: Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint and with other mathematical applications throughout the course of my Mathematics degree, including Matlab, Latex and Mathematica.
I'd consider myself to be fairly computer literate, having achieved an A grade in my ICT A-Level, having good interpersonal and/or communication skills (both written and oral).
I am certainly a determined individual with a strong willingness to learn and gain knowledge whenever the opportunity arises. I am a highly self-motivated person; rarely satisfied until my goals and ambitions have been achieved. I have thus far achieved very good grades during both secondary school examinations and also onto further education at Queens. I also consider myself to be an extremely deep thinker and indeed a very introspective person, which has certainly aided me in my life journey thus far, especially in my education.
